Hey guys, I started playing p99 about a week ago on red and I just hit 18 with my rogue. I been wrecked plenty of times and am loving it.

Also some very kind people set me up with a chokadi spine and a serrated bone dirk, so my weapons are in good shape.

My question is aha kind of armor should I be looking for at this level with N other characters to grind it for me?

Should I be trying to get it myself, or is there a place I should be trying to grind money to just buy items. Its been a decade since I've played so I really don't remember the good items/spots anymore.

Thanks for a great experience so far guys! Soon you'll feel my knife in your back

ravenscale is pretty ok for a rogue at low level. run you an average of 200p a piece. seb scale is also good.

mithril arms and legs are good upgrades. dwarven work boots. leatherfoot raider hat if you're a halfling. Hero bracer if you're a class that can use it. Bracer of Erollisi.

I'd just loot whatever leather crap that happens to fall your way until you have cash for those items so that you're not constantly upgrading.

Another lowbie here, but is Ravenscale really all that great? I'd been told that rogues should focus on STR / MR and getting a decent stabber. I'd not turn down a set of Ravenscale, but it adds more charisma than strength. I picked up a Hero Bracer and some Bone Armplates (+15 Str +14AC -4 Dex) for about 200pp in total (through a combination of luck and patience) and that seems like more of a sound investment.

The Ravenscale BP is nice. The mask is good. The rest is honestly junk.

Tree Weave / Brigandine Tunic / RS BP: All about the same quality, pre-planar options.
5-55 rings are good on anyone.
Exec Hood is nice if you can stand leather graphic.
There's some dirt cheap 3 str 3 dex gloves that's name escapes me.
Boots: Dwarven Work Boots till planar.
Legs: Kylong is cheapish
Wrists: Hero Bracer / Seb Scale or Kylong Bracer
Necklace: 7 str 7 int
Belt: Ravenscale
Shoulders: Bloodstained Mantle

Great list from Cecily above.

Should be easy to get banded for all slots as a starting point, then upgrade to items which give +STR, +HP, +MR from there.

+55hp rings should be a priority.
Hero Bracers also very good.

Some other items to look for:
Elf-Hide Gloves
Troll-Hide Belt
Crested Helm
+3 Str or Diamondine Earrings
Runed Bone Fork (Range Slot)

Your weaps are good for now, but if you see CSS (Crystalline Short Sword) for
a decent price, get it for offhand.

As you level up, you'll want to save for some haste like FBSS and JBoots (lifesavers!).

Iksar Scaled Gloves (http://wiki.project1999.com/Iksar_Scaled_Gloves)? I picked mine up for 75pp, so they are definitely affordable at lvl 20-ish.
