I am going to preface my post with 2 statements

1) This mount is not for everyone, but if you need a mount that will allow your TV to actuate vertically then this is the only one I've found to do so
2) The seller gives up to $100 rebate for spreading the word on his mount; that is the primary reason I am posting this. HOWEVER that's not to say I don't love the mount :-D

I got this TV mount for Christmas and I absolutely love it. I, like many, have my TV mounted on top of my fireplace. This would be fine if I had bar style seating in my living room, however I just have a normal couch. This means I and everyone else watching TV have to constantly look up to do so.
Not anymore! This mount allows me to translate the TV downward up to 30 inches. It is also able to clear my 8" deep mantle. I've seen setups where it cleared an upright Piano!
These pictures should speak for themselves...

Mounting near a fireplace doesn't sound like a good thing to me. Excessive heat just generally is not a good thing for any electronics.

Mrriverse - I agree that excessive heat isn't good for electronics... however I would never run the fireplace with the tv at the bottom position. If I ever ran the fireplace I'd just keep the tv in the top position and it really doesn't receive any heat from the fireplace there. Another thing is that I live in Southern California; I have only lit that fireplace once since I moved into this house in 2009 :)

SamwiseRed - don't hesitate to PM me if you have any questions. You can also email the company... you will most likely talk directly to the owner/designer and he knows this system in and out obviously.

Still radiant heat coming from the front of the fireplace up to the TV wont be good over the long term.
