Well today I finally got titanium and got on the server and I gota say this is a great community. I started up my DE cleric and started crushing the faces of snakes and spiderlings. Just about everyone who ran past would stop and throw a buff on me. I saw a necro go by and I sent her a tell offering to sell bone chips because i knew this was a great way to make money in the old days. She did seem to be just passing through though so I didn't expect her to come back. Despite the fact that I only had half a stack and she wasn't even actively looking to buy she came back and bought them from me anyway. One guy gave me a hand made back pack and some buffs. Another one hit me with a huge damage shield and 25 plat to get me started. Its stuff like this that I missed most from old EQ. Random people helping out strangers. Back in 2000 when my main was a druid I use to go to noobie zones every time I got new spells and spend a few hours buffing people. Now that I've come full circle and i'm the noobie again its nice to see people still have time to stop and help someone out that they don't know. It just doesn't happen in other MMOs.

Thank you all - not just for the goodies but for the good feeling :D

I agree, folks help the lowbies out a lot. I really appreciate that about this server too. I started a cleric in Qeynos just the other day and was level 5 in 45 minutes because the nice druid throwing high level buffs on me.

At level 8 Fearghus was given 2k plat for helping transfer cash for someone in EC. I was a perfect stranger. After a short conversation, they handed me the money, asked that I don't steal it and to give it to their alt.

Yea, the folks here can be pretty damned friendly.

Though not all of them...

Not to be a dick.. but I think people help newbies to much on here now.

Just remember as nice as it is to get and give all that free plat and PL'in buffs.... you are depriving them of the struggles and hardships of their first character. That is can never be replaced.

Be nice to the noobers but dont make it so easy for them.

welcome to the server. There is a good underlying vibe here. Enjoy!

Too late :P

I buff people even with my low lvl 18 stuff -- I know how those buffs can ease things for just a bit and let you do more damage or take less damage. This isn't anywhere close to removing hardships and struggles, most buffs just don't last that long. :) I agree, the community is good! Mostly! :)

I have to disagree with this. I would say almost all of the players on this server are not new to EverQuest, so this technically isn't their "first character". They've done the struggle from nothing before, it's not character building a second time around. A few spare lowbie items and a damage shield don't turn a returning player from humble to spoiled brat.

Lol he's probably one of those tools who think powerleveling should be a bannable offense

i'm still a lowbie and even i give out low level buffage to other newbies... level 8 mage DS. not much but at the low levels it really helps. does that make me a filthy power leveler even though i'm not even level 20 yet?

I think 99% of the people here were noobs and did their hardships back in 1999. Im sure helping them level a bit faster wont ruin them for life.

I had 3 lvl 60 chars during velious and I would love it if someone helped me with my rogue. I dont know why, but grind seemed easier back in the day.

my partner made an eruite wizzy on live (she only liked the erudite female graphics)

first time she stepped into tox some random guy came up and gave her 100pp...

it happened back then too so get over it

The newb you buff now could be the alt of a cleric that 90% rezzes you later.

Always pay it forward. :)

One of the things I loved about EQ was the ability to give random buffs and get them instead of a lot of the other MMOs where you must be grouped to get them and once ungrouped they are gone...

LOL ... so did I!

I have vowed I will not sell it. If I ever get better, I will give it to some other newbie...

Of course if I ever get better, then the plat that it could sell for would be pretty much meaningless anyway.

I felt the same way when I started. It's nice for me because I'm not one of those people who will stand around in the EC tunnel asking for buffs, I've never asked anybody for plat. I hate to even ask for SOW so most of the time I just travel slow. I frequently just eat exp loss because I don't like bothering people for a res.

But here on P99, people still hooked me up even though I didn't ask. Folks gave me buffs just because they wanted to. Clerics have sent me tells when my corpse is close by, "Do you want a res?" People have given me items because they have extra stuff and they figured I could use it. The generosity of P99's community is outstanding.

surest way to get into my pockets is to be over level 10 with your starting tunic/horrendous gear.

There's a difference between making someone's day with 500pp (spells/bags/food forever) and depriving them of hardship as if you're PLing them or something.

edit: also warriors need to be twinked, and I'm always happy to dish my $$ out to a warrior considering that they MUST /random win or buy 2x Ykeshas.

Your enc doesn't need an SMR, your SK doesn't need a Mithr 2 Hander etc, warriors however need some love.

I really don't think I've ever passed anyone below 30 when I have random equipment in my bags and not given it to them lol

Unrest has been getting pimped out the past few days.

Thats insane, guess I have just been in the wrong places. I am near level 40 and don't have close to 2k, congrats on the good luck.

And to you Dantes, I am the same way. I still haven't gotten a rez on p1999 and always feel bad for bothering people so I don't ask for them.

I especially don't ask for help now that I'm getting higher level and people expect large donations for everything. People assume you have a lot of plat and I'm looting everything off my mobs just to keep my research skill maxed.

Thats one drawback of being a necro, when you aren't in populated areas you aren't around the nice people helping out so you usually have to pay for any help/buffs you want. All the benefits come at 50.
