View Full Version : Halfling Druid - Should i reroll for Tunare in case warden symbol is added?

Hello, I have only made it to lvl 15 as a halfling druid of karana. Should i switch to my lvl 10 druid since he is tunare in case the clicky neck slot root quest is ever fixed?
I thought the instant gate cap would be a nice get out of jail card, but the neck could have more long term usefulness.
This is my first druid, i played a SK on live so utility and survivability is important to me, what are your thoughts?
thanks,
Grelwin

anyone can get the wc cap. clicky root doesnt sound that cool. if you are going to reroll go human if you care about clickys, they can wear robes like this one.

just looked up that neck. its trash. 4 seconds for a shitty root? uh no. in velious root/snare stacks so youll have all day to re-root w/e you are killing. the only other reason to use root is for CC and you dont want to have to wait 4 seconds when you could root the mob with your fast cast root in 1.8 seconds.
tldr the neck is garbage.

halflings level faster and have racial hide
tl;dr : druid has no min/max race because its such an average class

Don't Wood Elf Tunare druids also have hide?
I don't think levelling speed needs to be considered too hard; the game is going to be stuck in Velious for ever so we got a long time to explore and level up?

I honestly wonder how many druids will ever even see the inside of VP outside of being an alt or someone's back burner "cuz I'm bored" toon
Serious question, not trying to be rude or anything but I was under the impression Druid's aren't too well like in the raid scene outside of being in close with the ones running the show
Oh, and second question to anyone who may know, what do the loot rights for something like Robe of the Spring go for?

Play the race that suits you more.
This is a game after all, and you will spend hours looking at your toon.

Robe of the Spring is tradable
you dont need to purchase loot rights or do the VP key quest
just port your ass off for donations and save 200K lol
then you can wear the Robe which btw Samwise, is not restricted in terms of races...ALL druid races can wear it...robe graphic or not
Reroll for the Tunare necklace? Never. There are Gloves of Earthcrafting (http://wiki.project1999.com/Gloves_of_Earthcrafting) from Plane of Growth though once Velious comes out. Has a nice damage shield, but not your best damage shield. The gloves and necklace are hardly overpowered enough to say you make a mistake being anything but a Tunare druid.
Halfling Druid Positives: Hide, Sneak (helps with some quests, merchants, faction issues), Exp bonus +5%.
Human Druid positives: rare race selection, can wear end-game robes (Robe of the Azure Sky (VP/Phara Dar). Displays robe graphic without Guise of the Deceiver (Robe of the Spring).
Play what you like and looks best to you.

you guys are cray... the Tunare Warden neck is very OP if you like to solo and adventure around as a druid
you wont be using it all the time but I promise you, having a free root clicky will get used more than you realize, esp when root and snare stack
there is zero reason to be a halfling or human druid unless you are into roleplaying
Wood Elf or Half Elf Tunare druid all day everyday except never be Half Elf bc they have major fail wisdom
Wood Elf Druid > all

Sneak for halflings and robe graphics / equipable for humans are honestly pretty nice advantages.
Why would I use a low duration, long cast time root over a 75 mana root with fast cast time and long duration though? I'm guessing mana conservation?

The root neck doesnt translate into bigger more epic kills than you were druiding before getting the clicky root neck.
Not at all.
However.
With this neck you can simply always keep your mobs rooted FOREVER, and it costs zero mana.
Imagine we are in Velious and root/snare stack.
You are charming in Sirens Grotto. Pet breaks will murder you.
Isnt it nice that while ur pet is raping face on your target, using no mana you can not only keep Drones of Doom on your target for free damage, but you can also keep your target snared also for free thanks to your epic and low and behold you can also keep your target perma rooted at, you guessed it, absolutely no mana cost
Its not going to make you suddenly kill mobs you couldnt before like a Robe of the Spring/Puppet Strings can, but I am always going to be carrying it along with the Haste neck all the time ( when that comes back, pls bring the Haste clicky neck back )
Snared, rooted and dotted - Forever and at no mana cost.
That has value, esp if the only barrier of entry to this power is simple race selection.

I just read the thread lol.
Halflings are terrible in every aspect of the game. Almost as bad as gnomes. I used to charge double to powerlevel those races because they are so awful.
Tunare druid is great for a few reasons.
Gloves in PoGrowth being a big one.
Root neck being another big one.
Never having to do PoGrowth raids is another one. Trash clear for 6 hours lol NOP.
Clicky root isn't to be overestimated though. It is crappy root with a not too stellar cast time. It has its uses though they aren't make or break. It's what, 4-5 clicks casted on mobs to match Engorging Root's duration? The amount of time spent clicking vs medding (assuming you aren't timing casts to tics) would probably have you losing mana.
That being said, when mobs are resisting root or having early breaks this item helps preserve mana. Which is going to be happening more come Velious.
Also it's 10 DMG per root. With more 51+ summoners in Velious, you will find this being a useful means to CC said mobs. Currently you can only park once or twice with Engorging Roots before the 190 DMG drops the mob into summoning HP. With this you can park pretty indefinitely, and again, early breaks are a minimal issue especially once you can Ensnare.
Clicky DS also... Imagine you have Robe of the Spring, ES BP or Velious BP, Gloves of the Earthcrafter and Velious Boots. That's mana free Clicky HP buff, Regen, DS and SoW. Never have to waste mana on newbies again. Rejoice. Mana free-aggro free, DPS castable on anyone anywhere is very nice. It isn't our best DS this is true. But it is castable on anyone so that sort of makes up for it.
This isn't fashionquest, if you play EQ for the graphics I feel bad for you. Unless you use Luclin models, then you can burn at the stake you heretic. No reason to roll a Human just to have robe graphic.
Tl;dr - Elves are best. Half-Elf if you want the road less traveled and to look like a distinguished gentleman. I don't always play a druid, but when I do, I prefer Half-Elf. *cue Dos Equis Meme*

Any Druid could do this though right, they'd just have to mem Grasping Roots?

If by "terrible" you mean FREAKING EPIC, then yes, Halflings are "terrible".
No substitute for sneak ability available to non-Halflings.

Spell gems are a druids most valuable asset. Having to juggle gems for level 5 root is very annoying. Devoting it to your bar on top of good root sucks a lot too.

95% of the time this is correct. But once you have the root neck, you will be extra prepared for those 5% of the battles that sneak up on you.
and yes PD robe is restricted to robe wearing races only

Yes. All classes, only INT caster races.

After learning about the robe of springs/manastone combo not available to halflings i am even more tempted to make the switch to a tunare wood elf. It sounds like fun, and may open up some fun opportunities later on combined with clicky root.
While i find it unlikely i will see this combo, the clickers are stacked against me as a halfling and part of the fun of this game is dreaming about cool gear you may get someday!
I appreciate all the feedback, ill sleep on it...

Halfling druids can use Robe/Manastone combo. Halfling Druids and RANGERS(RIP on p99) are the best!! Daldaen and Eratani can suck it.

To the question asked way back - Druids become much more useful in Velious on raids.

So the choice is wood elf / Halfling to be able to hide
human for cross dressing and vision impairment
or half elf to be an un-notable mud blood?

Thanks for the clarification Sam. If anyone can use the combo, i agree that the root neck and tunare gloves aren't enough of a reason to switch.
I'll be happy with my sneak and extra exp gain.
Not to mention my mustache... Halflings have the best mustaches...
