Looking to Roll a Caster on Red

Hi all,

Currently looking to roll a caster on red, but am trying to avoid a class that is gimped. I played a mage/necro back on VZ and loved how powerful the pets were (could run away after /pet attack a lot and find the other guy dead). Looking for some advice on which caster to roll?

My pref is:

1. Mage
2. Necro
3. Wiz
4. Enc

I'm willing to do a shaman or druid but hate being a healer in groups. My end goal is to solo/group to late levels and raid/PVP from there.

I would strongly suggest Wizard. I made a Wizard on red and only made it to my teens before I quit. But I can say this. As a low level Wizard you have a LOT of ways to escape.
You get Fade, Gate, and See invis at level 4. This lets you see those epic'd rogues coming and get away from them.
At level 8 you get shadow step which is a stronger fade.
I never knew how awesome Shadow Step was. I was by the entrance to Slavers in Crushbone, cast ShadowStep and landed on the far end of trainer hill. That's halfway across the zone. From there I hit the zone out and was gone.

Plus, at later levels Wizards get some really devastating Nukes.
The downside is fighting twinks with 150+ MR unbuffed. That's where being a mage pulls ahead. As a mage you're not 100% reliant on spells like a wizard and can do some some melee damage through your pets.

All that being said I have very little Red experience so I'm sure someone else could chime in with better thoughts.

I am really starting to lean towards necro now ! Wizzies sound miserable to level unless you afk group the way through.

Enchanter. Cheapiest class to gear, best class 50+ for soloing cash drops. Every group wants you, every guild will give you invite. Game breaking in pvp and pve... Duno much else I can say really.

Looks like about as much "PVP happened" on your killboard as when I run my level 100 orc DK to redridge mountains.
