Good SK weapon for poor guy

What's a good SK weapon for someone pretty new that doesn't have hundreds of pp let alone thousands? I'm using a Two Handed Sword right now and a few rusties for skill ups at lvl 17 and they do fine, but I'm keeping my eyes open for something better. Should I not worry about it and save for those 55 rings?

Others can revise this, but this should at least get you started for SK weapon progression.

1HS = Sword of Skyfire -> Noctivigant Blade -> Shard of Night (Chardok revamp, not live yet) -> Massive Dragonclaw Shard (Velious, not live yet).

1HB = Deadwood Stave -> MoSS -> Ebon Mace

2HS = Nathsar Greatsword -> Argent Defender / Throneblade -> Epic (Soul Leech)

2HB = Rod of Lamentation / Deathbringer's Rod

In Velious, insert the Velium weapons for 1HS, 2HS, 2HP. (Light, Aged, Exquisite, etc.). For the end-game stuff, insert Primal velium and ToV stuff.

For the cheap starter stuff, Sword of Skyfire is about 200-250, and Nathsar Greatsword is about 100 plat. Deadwood Stave 50p or less, or free if lucky.

As a general rule, 2-handed weapons are going to be cheaper than 1-handed because there tends to be a fairly large supply and not much demand. Hang out in East Commons for awhile and you'll shortly notice folks auctioning off 2H weapons with serviceable ratios for quite cheap prices. There are too many such weapons to list them individually but since we have item linking on P1999 just watch the links as they scroll by.

At your level I would suggest a Nathsar Greatsword which can be bought for 100 ish. Its a little low on damage but the speed and str make up for it easily. from 20 - 30 look for a rod of lamentation or Deathbringers rod which can both be found under 500p. Weapons in the 25-30 damage range will server you well until 30 after 30 all damage caps are lifted and use whatever you can afford.

I almost forgot. Stay away from Mithril 2hs. People go nuts when they see haste but with the bad ratio its not any better than Nathsar.

nathsar is what I recommend and use as a broke p99 sk newb (and just hit lvl 19, byebye dmg cap!) but worth noting is 2handers get bonus dmg based on delay which is not insignificant, and where the nathsar dulls a bit in that light at 30-40+, the mithril 2hander gets a fat bonus BECAUSE of its shitty delay, which the haste negates, so it's a heavier bonused decent ratio 2hander.


Not one I recommend for most people, but worth notice so you understand mechanics and what makes it desirable.

Much better off getting a better ratio slow 2hander and FBSS or other slot haste item if you want bonus damage though.
