View Full Version : Cazic Thule question

I have asked many people as I have been leveling and no one has yet to have an answer as to why.
Why does no one level in Cazic Thule in P99?
That used to be the hottest zone back in the day. Lots of mobs, lots of loot, and based on the ZEM chart, it has a decent modifier.

Risky pulls, bottle necking, and lots of caster mobs at a level where the classes generally don't have reliable ways of dealing with it.

Cazic Thule is way out of the way and is full of highly annoying Cleric lizards that'll happily heal each other through walls. It was popular on Live mostly because Live servers had several times P1999's leveling population and leveling in CT was better than sitting on a waiting list somewhere else.

We dealt with that back then. Are people that much more prone to risk aversion now?

because of the info that we have gathered over the past 15 years of this game being out we see that there are better choices out there even if Cazic Thule has a good mod & some nice loot. i can only suggest from many different points of view that no one care to go there cause of 1. the threat of pulling trains is far more deadly then even Unrest 2. lizards will book it asap & cause a swarm of mobs on ya if you don't have a very good snare or rooting class in group 3 it is located in a very unwelcoming place with no where for good races to go to vendor or so only people whom play evil will go the extra mile to find a place to bank / sell since its a common aspect of being a evil race & the last reason is also why sadly you don't see so many groups in guk, a very confusing map lay out that cause new players to get lost fast

maybe a week or two long rubicite event would change things

CT being empty I agree is very weird Art, no one being in CT was one of the first "woah this is dif from live" experiences I had here.
I leveled my wizard, war and rogue all in CT from the throne room to the pyramid, there were literally 5-8 groups in the zone at all times
this is partly why its so dangerous here, no one is there killing things so each pull if a group should go there would be very dangerous and require lots of CC
then all the dumb lizards heal tru walls bc again no one kills them and its a big mess
plus the loot there is not that great once they removed Ruby, the only people who go there now are Plvlers looking for a quiet place and quest farmers

Maybe that is the key there. The rubicite bp isn't in P99 right? That item being the anchor loot and then others would follow to hang out knowing others are there getting the other bits.

Yeah that is exactly how I remember it too, fondly.

CT is a fun zone, and for skilled players, the "problems" people are mentioning are simply part of the challenge.
However, poor loot + too many pussy players = no one goes there.
But it was one of my fave zones pre-Kunark on live.
No idea what the solution would be but to increase the exp modifier. But it is a damn shame to let that zone rot.
My fave: the pyramid. Fight way around it, and then up it.

Yea put rubicite back in and people would be all over the place. Just have some way of preventing level 40+s from zoning in and AEing it and you're golden.
Currently I am leveling my 24 mage here at gators duo with my brothers mage. Love it cause it is out of the way but damn is it tough at 24. Always pairs and the mobs are yellow-red.

I was a SK on Live. I adore CT... the Zone. Some of my favourite times ever were there.
Even on Live though, CT fell into disuse, which is why they revamped it.

Don't devalue my already pointless set of rubicite.
But an unclassic change that would give the server a more classic feel would be to revamp all of the ZEMs. The easiest dungeons with the best loot should give the least exp and the hardest ones should give the most.

Hardly out of the way, unless you think Guk is out of the way as well. There's also a port into this zone and the connecting zone. Healing through walls can suck but I'm sure if people exp'd here regularly they would find out the sweet spots to pull mobs too, and also now that I think about it I was able to kill off mobs being healed through walls with my 69 DS. I'm sure a group with a few twinked dps wouldn't have any problems either.
It's a fairly big zone with a lot of mobs, quite surprised no one exps here. I guess the unknown + fear of failing keeps people out of this zone. The only thing I hated about the mobs here, while PLing people, was that they dispell, but even that is easily taken care of.
Another thing is rangers would probably be sought out for when exping in this zone with Harmony and Snare and screw the ZEM when you have an entire zone to yourself for nonstop pulls.

as much as I love this zone, its just kind of annoying to level at more than anything IMO.. green mobs right next to red ones.. catwalks and falling into watter in the basement.. a maze that your rep gets lost and dies in every time...
its just kind of troublesome.. altho it is definitely one of my favorite zones i wish that people leveled in it more often!!!

Before Kunark dropped, if I did any grouping in the 30s it was in CT, that zone was great. Many people were there and yes, it was tough, but more often than not we'd get into a nice rhythm and just clear as a group up and down the pyramid. The only problem was DPS, if there was a problem.
With Kunark weapons and equipment I'm pretty sure that zone is just an XP pinata waiting to be cracked open.
Gators are good and quiet xp.

Leveled in the gator pit with a guildie not too long ago, agreed.. nice quiet xp good until 39 (when everything greened out).
