I'm rolling an enchanter. I ran across a post/article that suggested enchanters may not be very useful in raids. Is that so? How many enchanters are common in a raid?

Thanks ahead of time.

Edit: Oops, this is likely the wrong forum. Sorry.

Yea at a certaint point in Velious raids mana becomes useless so there's really no need for clarity.

Useless is a bit hyperbolic, but quite a few of the high end Velious encounters see Enchanters only role as casting C2, GRM, Rune, Tash, and Haste. Maybe charm a pet for some DPS. There are other encounters where the boss is slowable, then you can try landing slow on it.

Other raids like Fear/Hate you will be busy not only buffing, but doing crowd control of incoming mobs and/or pulling (if you want to get adventurous).

Raids typically have 2-4 enchanters.

Enchanters are still an extremely powerful class that any smart group or raid will not turn down inviting. They are also good at soloing if that is your thing.

Enchanters are buff bots everywhere except Hate/Fear for raids.

It's an easy job, but it's boring as hell.

Just remember, bards never take the DTs.

Enchanter charming will be an interesting situation in Velious.

The elite guilds utilized charmed pets in Kael to get their first few kills. With more knowledge and better connections, guilds on P99 will probably use even more charmed pets in Velious in more zones. Will be good fun!

Well they also charm horses in sky for boss fights... or even golems in seb for Trak... Even being a "buff bot" doesn't make them useless.

It's a question of how fun your raid role is going to be. More of a buff class, less of a crowd control class with some exceptions. Very important to the success of any raid, but know what you're getting into.

And as a Enchanter in Velious, Raids included, be prepared to die a LOT. Lots of resists, mobs un slowable, un mezable, and when they hit you you are dead. Cleric is GOING to heal the Tank to keep the whole group from dying. Usually only time to get off 1 Complete Heal when things go bad and it ain't going to the Enchanter trust me.

Only hope is if there is 2 healers in group, and on Velious mobs DPS is King so maybe not going to be too common 2 healers. Cleric is top dog healing in Velious with CH. Spot healers are not going to get it. Cleric heals on average are super mana efficient. :)

Velious will require a lot more thinking who is in a group compared to now to kill and live lol. :p

Generally a buffbot but I never feel uneeded. One other thing enchanters can do is bind sight and get eyes on raid targets and help with giving the pull teams extra information. (other classes can do this too)

Mage "flying eyeball" is the hoot for scouting. :p

Chanter charm pets will be a requirement for early kills on mobs like Statue for instance. Plus adding Boon of the Garou for a good dps buff on your leet rogues, and still having the best haste in game, enc's will be far from useless.

When it comes to buff-bots, shammies take the cake. At least enchies don't have 15 buffs any given person may want.

On live, druids and chanters charmed pets in Kael back in the day. Why would it be any different here?
