Pally = War/Cleric
SK = War/Necro
Ranger = War/Druid
Bard = War/Enchanter
Beastlord = War/Shaman
Magician = Mag/Pet War

We need to see a Warard. Would be like a Pally/SK but with massive damage spells. His epic would be a 2HS that procs Ice comet.

More like Rogue/Cleric.

And I thought beastys are closer to monks, they wear much of the same armor?

My hypothetical Monk/Wizard/New class kinda mix. Not a warrior/wizard, but was fun to create.
Class: Martyr
Races: Human, Half Elf, Iksar, Erudite
Deities: All
Armor: Leather/Chain (ranger type gear)
Weapons: 2hb, Piercing, 1hb
Mana or Stamina: Both
Stat Focus: Int and Sta
Staple Abilities:
- Feign Death (spell)
- Dual Wield
- Double Attack
- Skull Crack line (costs mana) – Frontal “flying kick” type ability, meaning immense damage useable a few times during a fight.
() Uses mana to infuse weapon with: Hardening (physical damage) or Power (direct magic damage check), doing damage (of course factoring mob stat checks) comparable to similarly leveled Monk's flying kick.
- Short duration group buffs, similar to bard songs (uses Stamina)
() Speed
() Ac
() Resists
- Direct mana/health replenishment ability (uses Pilgrim’s Health). Martyr will drain 99% of their health and automatically Feign Death (losing all agro) and infuses the Martyr with a Divine Aura type spell. Other group members are responsible for healing the Martyr.
() +health to all group members (direct numbers, possibly a split % of the Martyrs total health multipled by X to make it a viable #)
() +mana to all group members (direct numbers, possibly a split % of the Martyrs total health multipled by X to make it a viable #)
- Cover(uses Mana). The Martyr has the ability to split (to all group members) damage inflicted on the MOB's Target without any agro change incrementally draining the Martyr's mana per every second Cover lasts.
- Martyrdom Short range unresistable AE stun procs when the Martyr dies.
- Righteousness Identical to Warrior's Berserker Frenzy however begins when the Martyr reaches 50% health.

More like Rogue/Cleric.
paladin:
has lower level cleric spells.
has taunt and bash like warrior.
has no sneak/hide like rogue
has no backstab or anything like it
yeah its probably rogue/cleric.

Haha, like a Fighter/Mage in Baldur's Gate. Could kill mobs in droves by spamming Sunburst while beating the crap out of them with a 2H sword. Hell yeah.

Because a warrior/wizard would be able to do nothing beneficial for a group, nor would they be able to solo. A warriors purpose is tanking, so why would you want to lose some of that for being a crappy wizard too. A wizard is dps, so why would you lose dps so you can not tank well.

Rangers are not good tanks, but they can solo well(snare + fear animal) and they have good dps for groups. So why were they created?

Sadly fear animal isn't in game yet, but this is exactly the sentiment I came to post.

Really? When did rangers get it? I remember having it for my alt in Velious.

Rangers are basically dps for a group. What would a warrior/wiz be? Would it be tanking or would it be for dps? Neither because it wouldn't be able to efficiently do any of those.

Plus I think the concept of a warrior/wizard is dumb. They are to far down the spectrum for one another.

Also, not to offend anyone but in classic eq there isn't much reason for a ranger the way they were designed. In POP they really started to become a legitimate dps class.

The bottom line is, classes need a role they are supposed to perform, and what role would a wiz/warrior be in a group?

Paladin: Tanks like a cleric. Heals like a warrior.

I think fear animal is velious. I remember using it on dire wolves in Iceclad.

Speaking of Velious - I wonder if we are going to have the same boat model we have now for going from Ro to Iceclad. I liked the old SteamPunk boat...

The same role as any hybrid. You dont need a pally or sk in a group either, but they are still great classes to play.

I don't think the warrior/wizard hybrid would be the same thing as the sk or pally hybrid.

SK and Pally both trade some tanking ability for some utility (which in turn that utility actually helps tanking in some situations).

When you are in upper levels you don't need a level 16 wizard DPS spell, but a low level utility spell like snare, blind, heal, or stun can still be useful.

The efficiency would be so bad, especially with the amount of mana DPS spells take. Your warrior/wizard would hardly ever have med time and most of the time just be oom while tanking worse than a warrior.

If you wanted a warrior/wizard maybe you could have some self only casting spells that were procs for your weapon. The added procs could have some cool spell looking effects when they go off, and not force the warrior to actually be casting during fights. They wouldn't be the same spells as a wizard gets, but the procs could be similar to the low level wizard damage spells.

Really though a warrior that trades some tanking ability for more damage, is just a beserker.

If anyone has ever played Runes of Magic, they have a dual-class system in which you can play warrior/mage (mage there is like EQ wiz) and it's a really cool dps class. Not really a tank at all.

Play Age of Conan, they have the Herald of Xotli that rapes face. Best fatalities in the game too.

I'm sure AoC has changed a lot, but when I played back around release the Herald was the dumbest class ever. Total rape mode when they were in demon form, completely useless when it was on cool down.
