View Full Version : Game Mechanics: Faction not acting as it should in the gorge

Due to alcohol and bad judgment a year or so again i ruined my RV faction. However, I have been attempting to fix this by turning in bandages for quest and by farming the gorge of king Xorbb for faction hits, primarily to storm reapers, as I am a Druid and I need this for Epic. Everyone else in RV now is either amiable or apprehensive, however, the storm reapers are still scowling, and by my count I have pulled the entire gorge at last 8 times or more at an average of 30 mobs per pull, sometimes more which should have equaled a faction fix of at least 2400 and according to this chart http://wiki.project1999.com/Faction
and the wiki stating that the mobs in the gorge give a faction bonus of 10 per kill, I should be at least dubious on the storm reapers.
The character is on blue, name is Astald.
If you could look into this or tell me if some of my information is wrong I would appreciate it.

You don't get storm reapers faction when you turn in bandages. That might be why your reps are at different levels.
kill the goblins in butcherblock, should fix the storm reapers faction

I realize I don't get storm reapers faction from bandages and I know that's why I'm at a different faction level for them. My real question is that if the faction in gorge is right there is no way I should still be at scowling I should at least moved down a peg after killing around 240 mobs in gorge.

The entire purpose of this post was to report a potential bug. I know the alternatives to my faction problems, but I am reporting a bug, as this section, is supposed to be for.
So if anyone, GM or no, can address the issue with actual question in this post, that would be great.
Thanks.

Go on live and kill Gorge mobs and report the faction hit numbers - then the devs can match it here.

So is there a tool which can track faction hit numbers on p99? Or is that dev only?

Dev only unless you want to do logs and calculate it yourself.
I always wonder if the wiki information on how much faction is received for quests and kills is a load of bologna. I highly doubt anyone has verified the numbers inputted on the wiki. In fact, no on really seems to be sure on what the P99 scale is for max scowling to max warmly/ally.

I was unaware that the scales and the faction amount on the wiki is that inaccurate. Hmmm. Thanks, I have a few things to check into.

See how there are multiple charts on there...I don't think the players know exactly which chart corresponds to the server.

For what it's worth I can confirm that mobs in Runnyeye do raise Storm Reapers faction. I went from scowling to dubious from killing in there.
By how much each kill is unknown. Like someone else said you can go to live and find the exact numbers if you cared. It shows that info now.

Having recently been faction questing myself, and reading some of the information posted by others about faction and devs implementing those changes based upon live, I have done a bit of checking.
1. Devs have been changing things to match live, as live now states the # when faction hits are given.
2. Logging in live and checking the factions I've been looking at... only positive hits for kills on multiple different factions have been +1 only. Some negatives especially on "named" varied from -1 to -50 or more, most being -5, -10, -20 though.
3. The first column in the wiki faction appears to be very accurate going with kills giving +1, some turn ins giving +1 (handing in 2gp at a time to Novashine for example) and matching up with the faction chart.
I would check your info, and my experience has been the faction is a lot harder to gain back than has been suggested.

Right on, I figured that might be the case with the +1. Have you had any luck doing any investigation into the amount of faction earned by quests? I am now considering questing my way, i.e. deathfist slashed belts to deputy budo (if I can avoid Ella, she murdered me today while turning them in).
Do you have any idea for the general amount of faction bonus from a quest like this? Or perhaps if anyone knows the faction boost from the Cb belts in Kaladim, I imagine they are similar.
Thanks.
But if that +1 is the case than it certainly makes sense that I have not moved from scowling, and after having turned in 8-9 bags of bandages everyone else likes me. Questing may be the way to go, depending on the amount I guess.

faction in gorge not correct currently for our time line. the muddit kills should be giving faction with run eye not giving neg hits. not sure what other hits arse associated with them though .
I do remember faction changing after one of the changes to rune eye , I'm fairly certain it it was when kunark released but i would have research it to confirm it.

I have not checked specifically for the factions your asking about, but the deathfist slashed belts handed in to FP varied by the factions. First on the list was like +5, and as you went down the list it was lower.
You have a character on live? You can check most pretty quickly with all the books/ports avail. Just get one turn in and do it to see the results.
