Joined blue about 2 months ago, now maybe red?

Hello all,

I read new rules were implemented on red and the one I liked the most was the -4/+4 killing levels. What also attracts me me is the xp bonus since as a parent its really hard to make good progress sometimes. What else? I like the idea of low pop and the potential of raids and others things that are camped 24/7 with a waiting list on blue. Even for roleplaying purposes it just makes sense if i see a DE worshipping Inny that I should kill him.

But I love wars and pallys but they are so gear dependant that Im afraid to roll one... I dont mind trying a caster but damnit I wanna smash things!

Ive been spoiled on blue... there is something about my chars that people donate nice gear to me without me asking and I was also lucky to have 300pp to by a skyfire sword for my lvl 10 war and ive never felt more epic and Im afraid to go back to rusty weps. Oh well right? This is EQ and with a low pop count it feels that its only right to start out crappy again with nothing.

So whats my question? I would love to rock a pally with good xp here and I think the blind is good for pvp right? I also wouldnt mind a war too just for potential raiding and high end group tanking... but since they are so gear dependant should I stay away for awhile? I played a shammy once and had fun, how are they? Ive read enchanters are great but i feel like i would be a terrible mezzing enchanter but I dont know since ive never played a mezzing class. A wouldnt mind lvling a necro. Any advice?

Roll what you want. There are more than a few guilds willing to gear out new players. Don't worry too much about being ganked either. If it does happen, don't make a big deal about it or it might get worse.

Yeah it will happen from time to time. But it isn't as prolific as people make it seem. Been to unrest and MM plenty of times and only happened twice to me. The next time I logged in, I was too high for the twink to attack me.

This 100%. when i got into the unrest/mm rangei lvled so fast in those zones that in unrest i never even saw any pvp and i was in and out of there in a matter of hours thanks to good guy Gnorme. Mistmoore only had a few twink pks that showed up in the 2 days i spent there and both times i ended up grouping with them after and grinding for a couple hours. All in all having a badass time on red thus far. Just got 40 last night woowoo.

Think Im gonna roll a shammy. First non tanking class in my eq career. Looking forward to grouping with some of you. Think Ill make it a goal to get into Fresh. How does the pvp affect the EC tunnels? I imagine very little people being there with lots of corpses on the ground. Am I going to have to fear buying or selling in EC?

By the way Sajuuk, I've heard that paly's are nearly impossible to kill in pvp. I was actually planning on making a paladin as my alt in the future.

This game/server is hard. Choose the class everyone recommends you to play instead of the one you enjoy playing. That's the best way.

I started a paly completely untwinked and its been a blast. Due to the high exp rate no one really cares if you're geared or not. I was using a cracked staff for a while until a guildie gave me a 7/21 Blackjack ~lvl 20 or so. You're gonna get all your exp from groups so gear really isn't that important till later. It's fun to loot some ringmail/rawhide/bronze from an exp mob and actually have it be an upgrade.

But red will only take you maybe 2-3 months to catch up, playing casually. Try it, you dont like it dont play. It takes no investment money wise to play a week and see if you like. But dont listen to bitches like the one i quoted.

I joined a month ago, and being really casual I'm only level 29.

I leveled off the beaten paths, which means no CB/unrest/mistmoore. There are plenty of others alternatives that have comparable or even better xp. I did not get ganked once.

Infectious doesnt even have a HS diploma and lives off disability and other government income. He broke it all down in TS one day. It's kinda sad. Don't mind him.

Dunno who conscript is but I was playing while chewie was grefing 1 of 8 players off the server, didn't complain then certainly not complaining that pop may or may not have not have dipped to 150 at 3am.

I represent red better then anyone else because not only do I have the best gear on the most characters but I am also the best player.
