Looking for some advice....
Long story short, I killed a lot of halfings...alcohol played a key role.
I am going to need to repair that faction for my epic (druid here). What is the best way for RV faction?
Thanks in advance!
This quest raises various factions in rivervale:

You may need to do it a few thousand times though.

Haha...thanks. Dont think mass murder of runnyeye would be better?

you have to go postal in runnyeye to fix the druid's faction

I'm in the exact same boat. You know it's bad when the final turn-in NPC for your epic scowls at you.
In between knocking out all the tedious epic parts, I'll spend an hour here and there rounding up as much of Runnyeye as I can and AEing it down.

I normally don't advocate mass-murder, but killing lots of halflings followed by killing lots of goblins does seem to be time well spent :D

Regular goblins fixes some factions, named goblins fixes more. Eunomia informed me that letting my pet clear while I was afk wasn't an acceptable practice.
Edit- stupid auto correct

Why wouldnt it be an acceptable practice? It is classic as shit.

The searth function doesn't work for me so I can't find the post she referenced. But, nilbog made a post a few years back discussing mage's using their pets to kill stuff while afk. The way he phrased the comments made it possible to interpret what he said as any afk killing was frowned upon. I made a petition asking for clarification, and didn't get any response from anyone other than Eunomia. It wasn't worth it, to me, to push the matter further.
the faction you need for epic is Storm Reapers (Ella Foodcrafter is on Rivervale Druid Faction, that's what they are) -
The only way to get faction with Storm Reapers is to slay goblins, and lots of them. I suggest you clear all camps in misty, then zone into Runnyeye and clear a bit, zone back out to kill repops, zone back in, etc.
It took me a while to fix that faction. Do not expect this to be done in a few sessions. It is boring as hell, and repops inside runnyeye take longer than in misty. faction wise they all give the same, it doesn't matter which ones you kill, so keeping the misty ones clear is the most efficient way of doing it
easiest way I have found is to just run around misty, run up to every goblin and hit him with my weapon, agro all the goblins in the zone, and then DS myself and spam /sit, until they all die. rinse and repeat every 6 minutes

Or just drop all of them with Upheaval.

Nah, but slaughtering 100s of sarnaks at the same time in chardok is classic as fuck and ok.

I believe it was not allowed on live. I killed Vicus Nonad in Qeynos over and over while AFK on my Beastlord to raise my Ring of Scale faction. I remember being very nervous and hoping when I woke up in the morning that I would not be banned/suspended.

I know this isn't classic, but I remember when EQ2 was first released I had to afk for some random reason and left my Necromancer at some random spot in the Commonlands and came back to see whispers from a GM checking if I was a bot or not.
I just told them I went afk and they said, "Oh - Well you're not allowed to afk with a pet out"

In Guiild Wars 2 my account was permanently banned for going AFK near one of those public quest NPC's. I was just reading forums and moving my character every 10 minutes (for about 30 minutes) so the stupid game doesn't log me out. I was unknowingly getting experience every time people completed the public quest, although very little due to not contributing anything.
I'd post a picture of the explanation they gave me, but Photobucket is terrible and isn't loading.

While I am very much against cheating I find leveling bots such a minimal offense it isn't even worth punishing.

And I can remember mage and necro friends doing afk kills all night long in eq2 and never being bothered.

I dont play a pet class anyways so i really don't care, but was wondering if there was a hard and fast rule about it, because I have never seen it mentioned.

the merbs in the gorge have the same factions as runnyeye, are lower level, and maybe be a little easier to round up for the upheaval. plus all that factioning could earn you a decent item too: http://wiki.project1999.com/Whirling_Agate

That sounds like a much easier idea and one that I could likely readily do at level 40 in my off/bored time. Especially with the possibility of that item (or a few others I saw on the same mob) popping.
Thanks for the advice, I may earthquake the shit out of this place.

I spent roughly 50 hours in the gorges trying to get a malachite. (Seen spinflint only once).
I can now bank and trade in RV with my Iksar.
Clerics at Kith entrance still want my hide though.

Spent some time tonight trying to repair my rivervale faction. Between rounding up every single mob in the gorge and earthquaking them twice, i was able to kill all of them easily. rinse, repeat.
I probably did this about 10 times so far, spent some of my time medding up while handing in bandages in RV for the rest of my faction and now everyone in RV likes me....except for the druids.
No more bandages needed, but i still have to faction farm the gorge, which isn't a problem as it is easier than runnyeye with the mobs being smaller. However, try as I might, i have been attempting to see if i can figure out how much of a faction bonus turning in runnyeye beads or deathfist slashed belts give, I am wondering if it would be more worth my time to be a little more dangerous in runnyeye and turn in beads, if the quest gives a much larger faction boost.
Does anyone know?
Thanks!

I was able to find out some assumptions on xp on allakazam, someone said 12 faction hit per turn in for 4 beads, which is an extremely negligible amount if gorge is 10 faction per kill.
thanks

if you can find the Filbus, a rare-spawning halfling in Rivervale, you can give him plat and receive large faction boosts with rivervale. It's similar to the Qeynos gold quest.

To clear up any misunderstanding:
From the Play Nice Policy found here: http://www.project1999.com/forums/showthread.php?t=132299
It is against the rules to "afk camp" any npc or groups of NPC's by placing a pet nearby and letting it kill while you are away from your computer. Any other form of "afk camping/xping" is also against the rules, and you may be subject to disciplinary action (character de-leveling by deathloop is a popular punishment).
Originally, it was noted as "frowned upon" but people didn't understand what that meant, so now it's in the rules.

Hey Eunomia, you ever get bored just pop over to mistmoor and take a look at the dhamp camp. Most frequently afk camped mob I can think of.

Harmony the mob and get as close to the mob as you can and open the tradebox in 3rd person view, before you hit the trade button have someone cast Invis on you. Should work as long as all you need to be is indifferent.
Otherwise if you're a race that can hide, you can hide while the tradebox is open, just be sure to con the mob and make sure it's indifferent first.
The only way this works is if the Tradebox is open BEFORE you invis/hide.

30 or more every time. But there seems to be some kind of bug. I am now at good faction with everyone in RV except for the druids who are for some reason still at scowling, I submitted a bug report.
