The /stand command should not exist in game until Luclin...

December 4 2001 (http://www.tski.co.jp/baldio/patch/20011204.html) - This is the Luclin patch

New Commands:

/stand now implemented. We've added this command because not everyone speaks programmer and would think that the logical reverse of /sit would be /sit off. Smile
/particledensity command - Switches particle density on the fly without having to click it in the menus and exit the game.

/sit off is the classic /stand command apparently.

Minor, but classic.

So you're saying that we shouldn't have to stand first to start casting a spell?

No, you should.

Just the /stand command in your hotkeys should be /sit off!

To add to this, most people were on dialup on Classic. To best emulate this, you should have to go up to your mom and ask her to get off the phone prior to trying to login to EQ. Once you've logged in, you should go LD not less than 2 times per hour.

Lol! I installed a 2nd phone line with an unlisted number just for this reason. Best $25/mo I'd ever spent..:p

This will improve the quality of play and increase the population, and don't get me started on the "fun factor" of such a game changer. One word, aboutdamntime.

I remember this patch message!

Was talking to my programmer friend whilst doing some p99 about /sit off and he couldn't believe a game would have such ludicrous commands :p.

My first raid ever (Kedge Keep) was squashed because Mom had to use the phone. Never forget :mad:

Considering that the recent V35 "You must be standing to cast a spell" patch can be completely nullified by creating in-game macro's, it does make me wonder why they even bother to implement it at all. :confused:

This. P1999 already crashes way more than any other emulation server due to the heavily modified dsetup.dll file. Can we put off the truly non-important changes in exchange for better client stability?
