Let's be clear here. Velious will completely ruin the PVP server. A population of 200 can't sustain that much landmass. Once it becomes clear, that you can't find anybody. People will start leaving more often. And the population will dwindle even more. And then the server will be closed down...

I'm a red player myself and have been for 5 months, I just avoid rnf and other parts of the server that seem full of the toxic sect. But being forced to play there over the weekend was extremely fun and I'm sure I'll keep my toon there rolling. Was a blast, out of everyone I ran into there was MAYBE 5 pricks, and that's during a massive population spike to bring out all the PKers to torture the newbies. I imagine without it being such a temporary boost there would have been half as many avid asshats.

The thing is,... There are no 17 year olds that play EQ on p99. I'd guess that damn near everyone is over 30. The game came out a long time ago and this server attracts people that played on live wanting to relive the experience. There really is no acceptable excuse for the crazy stuff that gets spouted around.

After playing pvp for 6 1/2 years on Tallon Zek I think I'll pass on Red.

Why? Because nothing is better than sitting at a camp you need to complete a quest for X amount of hours only to have some player come along and ambush you simply for the "fun" of it. Thus, screwing you out of the time you spent at the camp because now I have to loot-n-scoot.

Oh, lets not forget the old ambush while fighting tactic: You have like 5 mobs and the pvper comes along and smokes your cleric or your ench. Or, they wait until all the mobs are dead and you are at 15 life and the cleric is at 10 mana and then lay waste to you, the cleric and who ever else is hurting. Guess what? Time to loot-n-scoot. So much fun.

I could go on and on about the filthiness of EQ pvp, but I think you all get the point. To those who wish to venture down this path, more power to ya. I wish you the best of luck.

When Blue and Beta were down and Red was the only server up, I rolled a character. Ran out to the newbie area and some dude started following me around KSing any mob I attacked because apparently you can't pvp at level 1 (and why would you want to anyways).

red has developed a really toxic forum and /ooc culture. 95% of the players I run into (both fighting with and against) are normal reasonable people, but once they start using /ooc or the forums, they quickly match the lowest common denominator.

if any blue players do want to try out red, please just ignore our /ooc drama. It's a way for players to vent, but has begun to get out of control with a small % of our players being really toxic and feeding the /ooc flames.

in conclusion, red dudes arent as bad as we may seem! please dont use the forumquesters and /ooc to judge our playerbase!
