How did you like the red experience? Did you have fun? What are your thoughts and experiences? Are any of you planning on staying?

I got griefed by no lifers in crushbone but then I figured out there was 4000 other zones to exp at and went back to cb 4 levels higher and griefed nubs in rags with my fbr.

I am hooked now!

I'm enjoying red alot, despite the ooc horse shit. I like that xp is fast enough to move you from spot to spot before you've got time to get bored. I like the lower population. I'm not killing very efficiently in full patchwork and a rusty mace, but as a druid that's not a long term problem. I'm level 10 and haven't had a single pvp encounter yet, but definitely play off the beaten path.

I'm still ignorant on a lot of things, and questions I've posed in ooc have been mocked rather than answered, every time. I'm undecided about staying on red permanently, but leaning towards it because of the lower population.

Pikrib

When I first started I poped ooc in its own chat window and minimized it. After awhile you get a thicker skin and just ignore the annoying ooc abusers. I still minimize ooc occasionally.

It can be really usefull when selling things and finding groups though.

Its a good server despite the common basement dweller raging and always saying negative things. But yeah like Pik said you learn to ignore the kiddys and continue having a blast.

A whole lot funner then fighting for spawns and sitting afk half the game looking for something to do (bluuuuuuuuuuuu_

Yeah your best bet is to NOT go to crushbone, unrest, ect to level. Those places usually have the bad pvpers de-leveled twinks to grief any bluewbie uneducated enough not to go there.

It isn't for everyone man. I started on blue when I found out about P99 even though I played on a pvp server on live. Blue just wasn't for me. I kept wanting to slay people who tried to take our raid mobs. Good luck with blue.

Servers a joke with such a shitty community

Allot of the trolls I've seen lately were new players fresh from blue. Sure we have a few ooc offenders but it's been quite tame as of late. I've seen worse in WOW.

I understand different player's enjoy different things in MMO's, personally a non pvp server is hell to me. I couldn't possibly see the allure in playing a game filled with people you cannot attack.

But if slaying the dragon is where it's at for you then red will be a bad fit.

I had a blast experiencing anew the excitement of being a real newbie! I know yesterday was a special situation since a LOT of people started a new character on Saturday. Therefore, on Sunday there were a LOT of people around levels 10-15 looking to group. The cooperation was fun, the experience bonus was crazy, and the chatting during down time was just like the good ol' days.

I was attacked by players only a few times. I knew to have my "Flash of Light" ready and was able to run like hell as soon as the root wore off. The fact that I survived suggests to me that the attackers were newbies just like me. I had a great laugh when I was attacked in the bank and watched as my attacker fled with a guard in hot pursuit.

The community here seemed quite welcoming. Thank you VERY much to the very nice ogre who saw my pathetic level 5 self, half dead, sitting to regen health and mana, and took pity, handing me over 500 gold, silver, and copper!! (I also received two nice weapons that I can sell when I figure out how that's done on this server.) My heart was racing as I gated home and realized that I was obviously encumbered as I ran to the bank--felt like I had a big red bullseye painted on my back!

A good time was had by all :-)

Servers a joke with such a shitty community

The community is what you make of it.

You can let yourself get offended by the ooc BS of the same 5 guys and their 40 alts, or you can just ignore that crap, find some friends, enjoy the xp bonus at group level and the easy accessibility to raids if you care for that.

If you are mad or frustrated before you start, it isn't going to work. Need to be able to realise its "just a game" when people take the dump on you, log of for 15 mins and walk your dog.

Great server for those who can handle the entry barrier.

Push past the lower levels and the game will open up due to lack of low level twinks trying to grief you off of the server.

Thats great man! Ever felt that excited when carrying 500 gold to the bank on blue? :)

I was given some starter money by 2 big names, in opposing guilds. Easy to find people that hate either guy, they are both nice people though .. :)

12-01-2014, 01:54 PM
Starter money would have been nice, I can't afford spells because I haven't looted enough of value in the time it took to level to 9. I've only got a couple more levels before I can do bandits or something though, that'll turn things around.

Definitely gonna stay. I actually started 3 weeks ago, but still consider myself a newcomer.

A game without instancing just doesn't make sense without pvp. And the concept of competition on blue is laughable. I knew that before starting on p1999 blue, but the low population was putting me off. That plus being aware that a significant minority of the pvp crowd was extremely toxic (deleved, epiced fungi twinks... lol/sigh?) and with low playtime I didn't want to be stalked and corpse camped for hours on end.

But with the new rules and leveling off the beaten paths, it's been just fine.

Genedin

Being afraid of low lvl twinks is a horrible reason to not play here.

I have leveled at least 8 alts and had such little trouble getting pk'd every time i almost wonder if they exist.

Leveled a Dwarf rogue to 5 and decided I needed a farming class so I rerolled lizard necro to 21 this weekend. Some jousting here and there but all before lvl 10. Looking forward to killing my first pale skin when servers come back up.

Planning on restarting p99 exclusively on red (27 druid and 26 mage duo atm, haven't hit any griefers...yet). My friend and I used to play RZ on live, and it seems like it'd be fun. We're currently in MIM where no one logs on. Would love to find a group or guild with more active members.

Definitely enjoyed red a lot more than blue. Blue tends to be netflix and auto attack. Red has excitement and good group atmosphere. Enjoyed the pvp aspect, got killed a couple of times but made those folk regret it a half hour later. The group experience is great, along with the chances of getting PKed it pretty much eliminates duos. Definitely considering switching full time to red, we will see once blue comes back up and whether or not i care for the gaming experience on blue anymore. Definitely sad that they closed red server, laughable at that decision because i doubt anyone from red would do beta, the pop number on beta is still 300ish from the weekend. Also was very nice seeing normal prices for items, and not seeing twinks/lvl 1s with epic etc.

I had some fun on Red so far. Fighting people at level 2, getting ganked at level 3, etc etc. It's definitely more exciting to know somebody can come and fight me at anytime. Reminds me of my EvE days.

However the population is so low, it really makes me feel like i'm playing single player. I'll probably play occasionally, but it's just boring.

Oh and I don't mind OOC chat. It's like trolly twitch chats. So fun and entertaining.

I must apologize in advance for the few toxics still left lurking. Look upon them as dinosaurs from a bygone age, soon to be extinct. Many cheaters and rule offenders have flown under the radar from the old days when this server was a desolate wasteland , that served only as a banishing ground for blue offenders.

Many have us have worked long and toiled hard to bring a thriving populace to red. There are many who will try there damnedest to deter you from playing here. That will be offended by your very presence, they enjoy a server of no GM's and players so that there cheat-fest may continue.

But they continue to be cleansed, and more will follow as GM's realize there are many more player's than they initially thought dedicated to red's success. We welcome you to Red99 and although many of us will fight and slay you, the confident players of Red99 wish to see you succeed and only wish to face you in combat once you are on secure and stern footing. Presenting us with which we love most, a worthy opponent in battle.

nah with his attitude we didn't need him here anyways, he would only be bad for those from blue that actually DO want to stay and play so please by all means, go back to blue guy. I personally shut down most of my weekend and rolled a brand new character and put together a full group of brand new players and they are around mid 20's now maybe even 30'ish since I last saw them and every one of the plan to stay, so please leave and go back to Blue.

I've been on blue for almost a year and a half now... my main and only character there is a level 51 shaman. I started on red this weekend and have loved every minute of it.

I rolled an enchanter and got him to 22, however, I am spending the next 2 weeks away from home because of work so I won't be back on until mid December. The exp bonus really makes people work together, and everyone I've met has been mature, quite helpful and an all round good person. I only came across one PKer twink in Unrest (Haterade) but he is terribad and not much a scare. /ooc has some knobs in it sure, but if you can let loose enough to not take it seriously all the time, it's quite funny. The only problem I had was not being able to afford spells, but after winning a block of high quality ore and a fine wizard tipping me 20 plat for a breeze in solA I've been able to buy most of my level 20 and 24 spells.

When I get back home I will definitely be looking to play here regularly. I play a lot of Aussie times though so sometimes the server can be quite dead, and that's probably when I'll resort to playing my shaman again.

This, this, and this.

It's about excitement, folks. The playful kicks and slashes between melee during downtime, the unexpected root spell followed by buffs and heals, a whole group coming together to fight and protect a camp when another squad interlopes...

Newcomers, I know your heart started beating a bit faster when that humongous Troll Warrior appeared and started taking swings at you. Can you remember the last time you felt like that playing EQ? There's a level of danger here that gets me fired up.

Love this Server.

Started fresh as a paly this weekend. Definitely a lot better than when I tried it a year ago. Fun being a newbie in rags again. Getting excited about rawhide upgrade drop. Fun having no one care what kind of gear you have as long as you do your job. Exping (besides the rate) feels more classic since you have to be careful and not just destroy everything with overgeared characters.
I exped in CB just to see the "griefers". Just super overgeared lowbies being stupid. They are easy to avoid. Remember you're playing a person and not a computer. Throw them some jukes. Jump in the water. Run to the zone but then stop right before and watch them zone right by you and laugh. If they kill you just laugh it off. Pack it up and try somewhere else a bit. You know you have no chance to kill them (rusty sword vs. fungi is futile), they know you have no chance to kill them. If you spew angry tells you're just fueling the fire. Since you can't kill em see if you can get them to rage quit by keep evading them. That's the true victory.
The group exp was a great idea. No one wants to solo, even heavy twinks. Good for grouping all around. People complain about leveling too fast to gain money. That's just silly. Take a break and go farm some low lvl stuff for spell money after you get some levels. Exping is so fast it means you can actually do more things besides grinding.
Overall good time, will play more.

Get used to this kind of stupidity

Was pumped to see 350 people logged on but then i remember 150 are hopelessly toxic assholes and the new guys just waiting to make this discovery when they get to end game and throw in the towel like i did.

See the shit thats posted in RnF? Thats a sample of whats waiting for you at end game.

Dont get me wrong, im glad youre having fun, it would be great actually to get enough new people to make a completely separate end game crew to challenge the asshole crews, because this server is probably the only chance we get at playing classic EQ PVP, but I dont know, wouldnt put any money on this outcome.

I realize what I just typed might seem "toxic" but really i'm just trying help and its not supposed to be a dickheaded comment.

From what Fame quoted though you have to realize RnF is just RnF. Maybe Tradsonred never realized what definition of the title is. Most of RnF is pals joking around, just don't take it too serious and enjoy the ride.

Good luck on red and i'll be online tonight on Cheesy or Pikrib. I have a few warrior and monk junk weapons to give away still so shoot me a tell if you are new and playing one of these classes.

I think I'm going to stay Red. More focus on groups, or so it would seem. Seem to be lots of trolls and idiots in the OOC, but from what I can tell there are far more people actually interested in playing than just those few that hang around to be dicks. PVP takes some getting used to. I like the idea of putting the hurt on someone being an ass, but there's always those that just like to randomly kill for apparently no reason. Can't forget to bind nearby.

So far biggest problem is finding enough money to keep spells up with levels!

How did you like the red experience? Did you have fun? What are your thoughts and experiences? Are any of you planning on staying?

I really love the xp bonus and think it is MUCH needed. Been having a lot of fun even when I get ganked by someone I have ZERO chance of defending myself against.

This patch, and it is obviously an error, kind of has me wondering if my time is best spent elsewhere, though. Not because the mobs are all MIA but because of what I've read on the forums - that this is pretty standard protocol. What I mean is, and it is only conjecture and speculation really, a lot of veterans of this server say it is always 1 step forward and 2 steps back when the population shows any improvement. That, while may or may not be true, has planted a seed of doubt in my mind.

I plan on staying on red but, really, the /ooc change has left me with something to seriously think about.

I gave away some more SK/Monk weapons last night. All I got left is warrior weapons. Message Pikrib, Cheesy, or McRib tonight if you want them. I got them on a pot bound porter so I can get almost anywhere np.

Changed my mind now. Broken server and watching some of you abuse people in OOC who were asking simple questions. FKyA.

Glad you enjoyed it. I tried hard to find groups and/or partners but I was unsuccessful. I think being around the EC area was a bad idea, I should have rolled near Gfay. I'll keep trying though, it's definitely an experience worth having.

What level ya at now mate? I won't be back on till the 15-16th of December, but as a 22 chanter I'm always looking for people to play with!

Aten - 22 enchanter, red

How did you like the red experience? Did you have fun? What are your thoughts and experiences? Are any of you planning on staying?

Priority #1: get my blue cleric to 60.
Priority #2: work on my red shaman.

I plan playing both once my cleric is 60. I see the appeal of both. 21 on the sham atm, probably have to pick a guild to run with before much longer.

I'm hooked! But I have a few pvp questions ...

Can I tell someone to leave the zone or get killed repeatedly? Can I do it without telling them?

Same for a whole class, "All wizards leave now or die over and over"?

If they do NOT claim LnS, can I kill them again before they loot their corpse, or while they are looting it?

Can I be a general nuisance running around a zone blinding or stunning people for fun? Just to give them a little scare lol

I'm thinking the first ones are ok but not sure of the last ones. I'm new here, are the answers obvious lol.

Thanks!

Blue seems so boring now ...

PM me any questions if you'd prefer not to post them. i usually check forums now at least once a day, although i haven't been immersed lately so i couldnt tell you all the "who's who" gossip. haven't logged in in awhile

Say or do whatever you want. But once the victim is slain, if they call "LNS" (loot and scoot) then you must allow them to loot their corpse. they should then leave the zone as soon as possible and not return for 1 hour. if they violate LNS by sticking around, buffing themselves/their friends, attacking you, or shit talking, etc. then you may attack and kill them again, repeatedly, regardless of how many more times they shout LNS (ppl must shout or OOC "LNS" in order to activate this rule. if they don't say anything then you are allowed to kill them until they do)

Same for a whole class, "All wizards leave now or die over and over"?

rule are in the "rules" thread posted by devs. (thread includes both blue and red rules), but are not always obvious

Thanks!

Not enough people on the server and like blue top heavy. Regardless it's the best EQ server I have found since live 1999-2001.

Leveled a cleric to 39 only because I joined a guild and had folks to level with but it only lasted a while and I took a 6 month break. Wish I could find more groups between 6-10 pm est.

Would love some more pvp as well. I joined Flowers, don't put on anon and have been leveling my Druid in CB and Unrest this past week. Not sure what else I can do to get ganked...

I had an idea today that I might be able to use OOC. Lvl 10 Druid LFG or to be ganked in Unrest.

People say the atmosphere is toxic, I like to have asshats on the server to motivate me to level and gear so I can attack and maybe kill their toons. 90% of the people I have met seem like great people to me even the 'twink griefers' I encountered when leveling my cleric.

Plan to stay until I find a better game. Tried the new vanilla Wow emu that just opened but they got battlegrounds so will not invest any time there.

I've been on red for about a month. I absolutely love it. The xp bonus is really nice and makes grouping way more appealing. Also having such fast xp takes your attention away from twinking. Had very little time pvping, been ganked once by a twink and escaped once. The one time I was ganked I was running though Queynos Hills and was bound by freeport docks...doing the stein quest. I'm used to the harsh world of EQ so that kind of stuff doesn't bother me. Looking forward to getting into my 40s and really start to pvp.

I really like the low population. Its nice to run around and only run into a few people. I run into the same people way more often which is nice and the OOC is fun while grinding.

I was getting borred with blue. Had a high level shaman, was thinking about raiding but meh...I'm more into challenging small group pve. Red has revitalized my need for EQ!

EQ was fun, but in UO you could pk some poor chap hauling his load of ore back to town, loot his house key and literally take everything he had ever acquired. That shit was gr8.

^ Great statement about UO. Small story time...

Me and a buddie had almost 7way gms on Napa. We were in 9th grade at the time. Our other friend from school just stated, we told him that he could go chop trees and farm wooden shields and sell them for profit to get started. That week he spent SOO much time farming. Friday morning at school he was all pissed. Some guy came up and PK'ed him and took away all the gold he farmed....he didnt bank it like I told him to. He quit the game. I think he spent like 16 hours farming shields to get it all taken away in a mater of seconds....

Anyways I've not felt anything toxic about Red server. Everyone has been super cool.

Another thing. Everyone knows what its like to die in PVE EQ and how frustrating it can be. If you get pissed off for dying on blue...your gona die much more on red...so think about if its for you :)

I made OP when Blue had the choice to beta test velious or play red. We had a ton of new people at the time checkin out red. Most newbie zones were poppin.

I wonder how many stayed and slowly changed into toxic assholes.

Muhahahahaha!

Red is just more stressful. It isn't a real game unless members of the community are harassing people in real life, doing drugs to cope with pvp deaths, shooting themselves in parks, being sent to rehab, stealing money from their spouse to RMT to be able to compete, making fake registries, stripping and deleting enemy characters and threatening to beat up each other in real life.

joined red to phuck around, stayed because I was impressed at how more group-friendly the server is vs. blue. Blue is more anti-social tbh even with the population, it's like being in new york city whereas being in Red is like being in a small hillbilly town in Texas (friendly but violent).

am level 30 wizard, havin blast. only been PKed once. have learned 2 master plugging
