Swiftblade till level 20 then go to higher damage Ranger Two Handers till epic. But keep your 1hand slashing skills up for the epic if you can ever get it along with the other weapon skills, 1h Blunt etc. After level 20 damage cap comes off.

You can hit higher then 30 damage at 20 but your still capped till 30.

Damage cap doesnt come off at 20. Your still capped till 30.
It gets reduced at 20. totally off at 30.

Silver swift blade> spring wood staff > woodsman'a staff > epic. If you're looking to mess around a little I'd suggest looking at a crystalline short sword, lupine dagger, lamentation, jade mace. Those are all about 1:2 ratio and although a drop off in dps, sometimes a fun change of you have money. Steel jilted flint dagger is also a fun toy but not a serious weapon
Keep all of your weapons skills up as you level. You'll regret it if you don't.

These people are correct. A good Ranger maxes all weapon skills every level. Swiftblade is the best weapon for quite a while. Woodsman is best overall except epics, which you will have a really hard time getting. I would say swiftblade + haste are your first priorities. Probably both will run you around 10-12k, depending on the sash prices. Swiftblade itself is cheap.

Things may be a lot different now but pre kunark when I leveled Find on this server I rolled with 2 Ebony Bladed Swords.
http://wiki.project1999.com/Ebony_Bladed_Sword
It proc'd a 60 DD 1 minute 30 second root you could start using at level 25. Very useful when dual wielding.

I agree with Swiftblade til 20, Springwood stave after that until you can get a Woodsman's staff

A quick tip on the Swiftblade. They drop pretty often from the Chardok instance and many people can't be bothered to sell them in EC, and vendor them instead. Before the server went down there was like 30+ of them on the Commons druid ring vendor alone, at the 88pp vendor price tag. Several other vendors in the Commons (both East and West) had them, a Neriak vendor had a few, and several were on vendors in Freeport.
So if the server has a long Uptime without the merchants having their stuff reset, it's just a matter of looking around for one in the usual places.

Ah, old memories of the Trainmakers in Paw...
Be careful where you use those ebony blades.

Nature's Wrath should be a cheap 2h blunt to pick up
two fists and a healthy respect for nature
