I remember #4. And it sucked sometimes when u had buffs in slots where you wanted them, and someone recast that buff on you.
Have it working in code.

basically if you always run around with empty buff slots, your sow or other buffs can be top slotted by another player (friend or foe) casting the same buff on you. some other things like spamming bracer of hidden will force see invis to go in front (assuming there is an empty space.) obviously this can still be countered but some people are used to having every buff known to man in a certain place for hours at a time. this is going to make it easier for necros and druids to bury dots because it will take a little more time/effort to manage your buff stack. your buff stack can also easily get fucked over by an ally. it wont be a game changer but it take a little more time and effort to maintain your shit. people will get caught slippin thats for sure. i know i will cuz im lazy as fuck.

shits classic, not supposed to be able to see a timer on your buffs either. if that gets changed then this will be a game changing mechanic.

sounds very classic to me, i remember this being to sole reason i had sound and spell effects enabled so i could click off my top slot if i saw someone casting a dot on me

yup i meant to say that eariler but getting my kid ready for school and shit. tactical advantage of having sound and spell particles on. if you dont see dat winged death swarm comin, might be lights out.

if they add dispell counters i am not sure honestly. i cant speak for nullify magic (pumice) but i dont think a single cast of cancel magic would remove a high level dot. much like a single cast of cure poison/counteract poison doesnt remove e bolt. there was a reason we had annul magic (more powerful nullify magic), hopefully red99 will see that day.

that would be glorious, i can't remember how it was on live but did nullify work exactly like pumice or did it always remove the top slots?

always removed top slots but pumice is nullify. I believe a dot like winged death was too strong for pumice to cancel out with one cast. it had to be clicked/casted multiples times or you had to use annul magic. right now there is no reason for the annul magic spell to be in game that i can think of because dispell counters dont exist here.
for sure it removed top slots because on live i didnt use pumice but i always had nullify/cancel magic memmed. its a bad habit i have here too because i am always poor.
this also means some of the higher level buffs cant be pumiced away so dont think dispell counters is a complete nerf. it just brings more to dispelling other than lol pumice.

Dispell counters are on beta. Winged death may not have correct counters. Will see if I can get more data to check.
And its not random. There is a pattern. There is a random variable too. Sucked to figure out, but dispell counters are not handled the same way as poison and disease counters.

interesting, does it remove the weakest buffs/dots first? gonna mess around on beta later to see.

It starts at top slot and tries to remove first buff first. But if its too strong, it goes to next one.
Even a weak buff has a random chance, like 10% chance to be stronger. Thats where random component comes in.
Was a bear to figure out. Was testing with cancel magic, and using a weak buff, it would get it in one cast most of the time. But about 1 in 10, it would take more casts. But how many more was also random. Its pretty cool how it works.

i think lucy has the spell counters as one of the data cells. gotta run tho so cant look up.

Lucy does not have the spell counters for the cancel magic spells.
Thus contributing to why they really havent been totally figured out.
Trial and error to come up with them. And values I have are pretty solid. Nothing in lucy that match anywhere.

They were reported not to be working for necro dots in pvp.

There were issues with necro dots. I fixed some stuff with them, so check them out on beta if you feel the urge.
In my testing of the dispell system, necro dots were part of the testing.

Damn man, nice job.
Think every necro on r99 will appreciate this a lot.
Except for those rare occassions where I splurt myself when I want to bind, but that only happens two or thee times, max 4, a week, so it will be great still :)

We are all grateful for the hard work you've been doing. Many things you cannot discern from Lucy and it's touch and go to figure it out.
AC being broken and melee dmg scaling prolly the biggest impacting issue on server right now. It's truly insane how much people are getting hit for with high AC classes. I'm watching people with 1000 AC literally disintegrate to Rogue and Warrior discs in seconds. I'm sorry but no class should have the ability to dish out 2k dmg in under 5 seconds that's ridiculous and very unclassic.

Tracking the dot owner is not there.
But all buffs will get stripped if too low on HPs. Making them prime for the reaping.
