Question about switching characters

Is it possible to switch your characters from blue server to red server? I only played for about 4 months on blue and have a lvl 58 paladin that is still wearing Armor of Ro set so it's not like I'm balling or anything but I wouldn't mind keeping my main. Also, I have some gear I got for a caster I was making.

If you got 58 (on blue) in 4 months you should be able to get 50+ in about 2-3 weeks no joke

Thanks for the encouragement! I am trying to get EQ working again tonight. I remember when I originally did this for p1999, it took forever because I kept getting that error when I would enter the character selection screen on the server! I feel it might have had something to do with the resolution but I can't remember. This time I'm trying with Duxa's install kit.

By the way, I am thinking about making a ranger or a magician, any thoughts on what I should make?

If you're rolling on Red, you should go with the Ranger over the Mage.

Just don't forget, there's going to be people twinked out the ass griefing you, especially if they have a high level healer backing them.

Also, good luck camping an item especially as a Paladin, anybody can just come up and kill you and jack your camp and tell you to GTFO.

Don't forget you need to have a secret bind point and don't ever go AFK or any random casual scum can murder you.

Also you can't ever carry money safely since anyone can murder you and steal it.

Question to Jhustin: Is the ranger more effective in PVP compared to the magician? Is that the reason you recommend?

Okay, maybe I will start a magician then. Sounds like it might be fun. =) Although this will be my first time playing a caster. Back during 2000 I played a SK and then I played a Paladin this time on p1999 Blue a year ago. Both were fun even though I slightly enjoyed the SK more but the paladin was quite strong vs. Undead enemies. Let me check out the magician wiki and see what I might have to get for it. If anyone is down to level up an alt, let me know. =)

Magician for farming only really. Pets are pretty much not a factor pvp-wise and your spells aren't very efficient. Rangers can actually kill some folks sometimes. Necro might be a good option. Another good pet-based farmer, but better survivability and can be helpful as a pvp support class.

1) paladins don't camp items anyways. Lol??

2) he's a paladin who can only be bound in cities. Not exactly super secret. Afk = camping.

3) gems = money. Bank on a trader mule.

WAAAAaaaa I want to play but now EQemu is saying that when I try to patch it, it cannot overwrite the file... I remember last time it was hell to get this game to work and this is my second day trying. =(

Don't use eq emu. Download this patch (http://www.project1999.com/files/P99Files33.zip) and go to your eq folder. Drag and drop the files into the appropriate folders. Done.

I added everything from the patch. I am getting problem #1 in the read before posting technical discussion. I just cant seem to get it to work grrr. which is what I was getting last time I played EQ. I also can't run the bypass eqemu icon with "run as administrator"....

Try adding the eq directory as an exemption in your anti virus.

SWEEEETTTTTTTTTT!!! Okay, I finally got EQemu Update error to go away and I can get to the character screen!!!!!!!! But, it says that my spell files need to be updated. I think this shouldn't be too hard to fix now.

omg... now I try to go back into EQemu and it says it seems this is the first time you are logging in, did you want to dl the patch? I just did and was in 1.92 version,..... God I have no idea what is going on

Thanks for the help guys but unfortunately I remember going through this before but forgot what the problem was. =( I am going on 7 hours of just trying to get the game to work so I posted my issue in the Technical threat. I have exhausted all of the things unfortunately from that thread. =( I have gotten the game to work in semi fullscreen which is the way I used to have it. However, the issue now is this "spell file not up to date thing..." I did a complete fresh reinstall and have no clue what to do now... I am thinking that perhaps I have to install, use duxa's, and THEN add v33 patch files.

Nope, either you have the wrong patch or you installed it incorrectly.

Do this. Duxa is out of date. It works to alter your Titanium installation to be P99 playable but it's like five patches behind at this point.

Finally got it to work. For some reason some of the files from the p99 v33 patch were not actually replacing the files so I went back and did each one ONE BY ONE lol.

I got it to work, took some time but I did each one manually for the update files and found 2 files that weren't updating properly.
