My experience on red99 so far

level 1-5 was spent doing the felwithe to kelethin messenger quest, I did this because it was easy money and I wasn't having any luck finding a partner and/or group.

The next day I found someone to group with at orc hill and I made it to level 7.

I logged in a few times over a week and wasn't able to find a group so I ended up going to nektulos to kill the zombies there near the zoneline to EC. This was pretty damn boring. I often advertised in the <Fresh> guild chat that I was LFG but never got any replies.

I was getting demoralized and told my guildies this, but an officer was pretty rude and basically called me a whiner so I left Fresh for <FoH> (These guys have proven to be much friendly and accommodating.)

I heard crushbone was full of twinks who gank people for luls but I hadn't had any luck forming/joining groups anywhere else so i figured it was worth a shot.

Luckily a nice druid ported me from the docks in freeport to faydwer to save me some time, sweet!

I got to crushbone and found two dwarves to group with however, two different gnome wizard twinks kept ganking us while we were fighting things.

No big deal, we'll just loot and try and avoid them. This happened a few more times and one of our members left.

Awhile later, we had nearly a full group at the wall and two twinks asked if they could join. We only had one spot open so one of our members graciously left so that they could join.

After a couple pulls, I was oom and a few of our members were injured so the two twinks that asked to join our group disbanded and killed most of my group members.

I made it out alive and decided to med up at the orc lift, the two twinks came over and killed me, then corpse camped me a few times. (I was hoping the guards wouldn't allow pvp right next to them..)

After being corpse camped and having just about every group Ive joined destroyed by twinks I logged out and I'm not really sure if I'll log in again.

If I cared enough, I would have thicker skin but the only reason I considered joining red was because I could actually have a shot at seeing certain raid targets get slain. Getting to that point however has proven to be pretty tiresome and It'd be nice if people had a little more honor.

I played primarily on pvp servers on Live and I never had these issues, maybe it's the small population or maybe I'm just old and tired but I guess I just can't hang.. I want to like you red but you've got a hell of a lot of bad apples who (it seems) don't want the server to flourish.

Question about that, if you LNS in one zone, whats preventing them from chasing you to another zone to do the same thing? you would eventually run out of zones or get carpel-tunnel.

Sounds like you've really had a rough start here. It's not all that bad, you can never trust the twinks really... Just gotta hope you get the 1 twink who's going to be nice and help you level.

Life is roughest at the lower levels.. If you can make it to 45+ I'd say you'll definitly start to enjoy the server. What sucks is it really makes a difference here whether some random higher level happens to befriend you or not. I'd try asking that druid who ported you for guidance. Or even the King Jew "Heartbrand" supposedly has a reputation for helping newbs to the server get started. Maybe give him a PM. Or I'm sure he'll view this thread at some point.

I guess that is a little misleading, like I said; I played many pvp servers in live but there was a little more honor and community.

This is precisely why I went to BB/Commons/Nektulos, problem was there was no one out there my level who wanted to group up it seemed. I asked a few people and they said yes they're are lots of twinks just go to CB and tough it out.

I guess the biggest problem is population, because the population is so low these people get away with the ganks and finding groups is way harder than I thought as a cleric. =/

Seems you also understand the concept of giving advice in a way that is as negative and impolite as possible, I've definitely tried that - it works sometimes but then you may not have any group mates.

Red definitely testes your fortitude, just not all of us have the iron will necessary it seems (Perhaps that's why the population is so low)

It will get easier as you level up. Despite the vocal minority, most people on the server don't really care about PvP one way or the other and are actually rather friendly.

sorry to tell you, the forums are way worse then actual in game, the server has been getting a lot better lately and there's tons of new players seeking groups, as a cleric you should be able to thrive rather easy as many people roll classes more pvp oriented than support oriented, there's a lack of clerics for sure so you should be fine.

I played rz and twinks that ganked you or group was common, in fact hostility was so common not grouping at all was not exactly unheard of. This server has a handful of low twinks, but its not really as bad as you say, i have lved 3 characters through cb now and even with the pvp it is quick. From there you can go to mm and unrest, which has even lv twinks because the lazy twinks won't lv past 10. Past mm there really are no pk twinks until 50, some of us make 10 lvs in a day there so you could be out of there pretty soon

This. Just because we have an exp bonus does not mean that groups, levels, and loot are going to be handed to you. It also doesn't mean you should run all over the place for worse xp than you would get in a newbie zone. Steamfont 1-14, sisters 14-17, then MM to 41 if you really want. Unrest isn't worth the run time. Neither is CB. Red is not forgiving for people who lack basic game knowledge.

Everyone thinks that making a cleric will get you some love. It won't. Most of the time clerics are the most represented class in the game. Log on a banker, look at who all 1 10, and if you see a pair of level 2s or a guy who just rolled, ask em if they want to duo a bit. A good druid or shaman can be more valuable to a group than a cleric. Same with a good ench or magician(I only leave necros out of this because so many of their pets are research). Similarly, a level 4 magician can make really decent money in the FP newbie yards. It may be boring, but if there is nothing else going on, making 50 or 100 plat won't hurt.

If you want to put in the effort, the reward is a faster path to a more diverse endgame. If you want easy, get in the welfare lines on blue and write your camp check macro.

Heck level 6-10 orc hill groups were advertising for more members while the potty party was commencing. Supposedly he has been here "for weeks looking for a group". I have only been here about a week and started out in halas on my shaman, which is every bit as challenging as a cleric early on. I just about hit 14 last night, mainly solo, sometimes as a duo with a ranger pal I met. I came here naked and alone and scared, but I also knew that people wouldn't be throwing XP and items at me just because I was new. This is a classic example of someone who just wanted to be coddled on the way to 60. Sorry dude.

Same here. Leveled two chars to mid teens around blackburrow. Was only PKed once and that guy ended up giving me 30 plat after joking around for a bit. Red not so bad, yet anyway.

Twinks don't camp zones for hours, there's groups all over the place all the time, and saying you can't solo as a cleric unless it's specifically against undead at level 8 is outright ridiculous.

The officer was speaking generally, that if you bothered to join teamspeak and bothered to try and be a part of the community, you'd probably see better results. You then got quite passive aggressive and you were removed from the guild.

Except you're using the lack of responses to point back and say "See! There's never any groups here!" despite someone like myself who has 3 characters in the 20's range who've basically grouped the entire way up without any hassle whatsoever.

These groups never came instantly, sometimes I would be on for around an hour or two before finding one, but it's worth it because an hour in a good zone is worth 4 or 5 hours on Blue in that same zone. I know you said that you don't exactly have the time to wait that long, but then you can't really sit there and cry about not being able to find one while simultaneously playing like objectively the worst soloing class outside of maybe warriors.

Pick a class you can solo with. Solo while you're online until you find a group. Join the group and blast through levels.

This smells much more of an elaborate troll though, I can't imagine anyone who's actually an adult and this helpless in a game that they're obviously incredibly familiar with and knows exactly what they're doing.
