View Full Version : Best class to duo with enchanter?
Thinking of starting a duo with a friend. Which class is best suited to duo up with an enchanter? Cleric? Shaman? ...Druid?
Sorry, I'll provide some more details.
We want to be able to utilize charming to the max. I am thinking that duo'ing with a druid is efficient because of snare, sow, dot's, animal charm. Also ports. But a druid is also a druid - a class my friend is a little reluctant to be playing. Is there a good alternative?
It is important that the match is possible to utilize also at lower levels (12-40) because it is not likely that we will be able to spend enough time to hit 50+. :)
Thanks for any and all input I can get. Was not able to find any discussions touching this exact topic elsewhere.

Cleric + Shaman are awesome with an enchanter. My favorite two choices honestly.
Shaman can malo your pet for better charm duration, heal, slow mobs you're fighting.
Cleric can heal your pet (better than the shaman), Complete Heal is awesome for duoing with pets eventually.
You provide the safety of CC, luxury of mana regen, etc.

Depends on what your goal is. Most people are going to tell you Cleric, but Cleric+Ench doesn't shine until you start doing dungeon camps, I'd say starting in the lat 40s?
Really, any class that can Snare or Heal will bring just about all that Enchanters are missing for abusing the game. Druids and Necros shine the most while Exping (IMO), but either choice will be fine.
Druids will let you travel Much, much easier thanks to SoW and Ports, and gives you better buffs for yourself/pets. Druid+Ench+Outdoor zone=Nothing can stop you.
Necros allow for potentially more DPS and has a wider choice in charming, as there are many, many times more Undead than Animal charm targets. They have better Damage options that Druids, but its a moot point as you're charm kiting...
Necro honestly doesn't bring as much to the table as Druid in the 12-40 range, though. Enchanters have a better Fear than Necros for a very long time(Ench's Chase the Moon at 16 [6 ticks] versus Necro's Invoke Fear at 34 [7 ticks]). Druids bring Snare and SoW, so you'll almost never get too hairy, and get Root much much much earlier than Necros. Harmony gets rid of those rage-inducing critical resist on lulls. Even in a dungeon, Druids will bring spot healing and evacs.
Honestly, when I play my Enchanter (37 or 38 right now, can't remember), I /who all (level-range) Druid first, then look for Necros, Then look for anything else/a group.
That being said, Any class can duo with an Enchanter reasonably well.... Warrior is probably the only class I wouldn't do, but then you just need a Cleric and you've got the holy trinity on your side.
If you did plan on getting 50+ I'd probably echo Ahmet and say Shaman+Enchanter, that way either of you solo would be able to take on the crazy camps that Druid can't do. I imagine this is the trade off for Necro; Druids rock at making "lazy" plat -- selling ports, Powerleveling, camping AC/Hadden/Money outdoor mobs) -- but eventually Necros are pretty close to Enchanter and Shaman on amazing soloing abilities.
Edit: Can anyone besides Necro/Shaman/Enchanter handle Seb/HS named camps, even?

Cleric. You want those buffs and that rez.

Honestly a great point Crawdad made. I forgot all about backstab pets and fear kiting while leveling up. Some of the best, safest exp there is.

If you're not really aiming for high levels - which is where enchanter/cleric comes into power - I'll throw another vote for a druid as a duo partner. An enchanter duoed with a druid basically adds a shaman between the two of you for free: you provide the slow and mana regen, he brings the buffs, dots, and heals, with the added benefit of snares, ports, and (animal) charms.
Pick your spots well and you'll be in your glory fear kiting with two charmed pets tearing everything to shreds. Oasis, the Karanas, Overthere, and Firiona Vie are just a few of the places you can choose from.

With a good Druid, a bad crit calm resist is a succor to zoneline instead of a WC cap. This is quite helpful. Evac to zoneline is usually going to be better and faster than rez, as the odds are if the Enc needa a rez the Cleric had to cap/gate out and run back to the dungeon (or the cleric is dead too). This saved time is invaluable. There's also lots of other helpful skills like buffs, DS, Wildfire, heal, snare, root, etc.
There are probably less than 5 druids on this server who can handle being a good high lvl Enc duo partner (or have even done it at all) but its completely effective when done right.

Druids are fantastic partners.
Because of the reasons listed above. Come Velious there will be more outdoorsy zones, so you can use Harmony instead of Lull, druids can charm an animal pet which is great to have 2 pets.
AE Root/Snare is actually extremely effective add control given you have space to not hit yourself with these spells, gives you aggro on resist or CCs them while a chanter can mez stuff. Port utility is also quite handy.
The only thing lacking is an efficient pet heal like CH. So you will have to mezblur pets to get their Hp to reset if you want to keep the same pet.

Me and my brother are doing Mage / Chanter duo. Mage can also debuff resists, has their own badass pet, and DPS with the clarity.

All around probably Shaman. High end duoing shaman or cleric, exping, probably druid.
