This is my problem. I see the game and have played a fair amount of hours but I just lost interest because it has the skin of every other f2p Asian mmo it feels and that shits fucking boring.

I tend to stay away from MMOs that have no substance and charge you 3 different ways (box, subscription, cash shop) to play them. These things are basically Ponzi Scheme: The MMO.

Game is free to play, there is a cash shop though, for things like Labor potions (crafting) and aesthetic stuff. Also you can buy a subscription status with in game gold if you want the perk of being a subscriber.

I haven't spent a dime other than patron status and I've done just fine. 2 16x spots and 4 8x's. 6 skill trees lvled to 50. and another 3 almost done.

Game is fun without using the cash shop...you can just buy what you might want off their with gold you made legit.

I didn't realize there was any BDA in SCG...i am in undead legion...killed more than a few of you folks =D

Have had plenty of fun PvPing you guys. Used to just walk into your housing area whenever i needed sent to jail lol. Whats your name in game? Also guessing you guys got a big plot of land on Auroria? SCG got about 20-30 houses down. It's like a fucking bees nest anytime someone walks through.

I am guessing we got a decent chunk tho, hopefully on OT's castle so we have lots of pvp in easy reach haha. Tho with us taking over northern cinderstone that usually isn't in short supply.

I wont deny that the box was pay to win. However, it's actually good for the game. making money in the game was either poopsocking the farm like crazy or get lucky with a TS tree...now crafting mats and TS trees are going to be very common which means more of us can actually afford crafted armor and build fishing ships...which will be a huge influx of gold in game.

And as my guild is going pirate, more fishing ships = more fishermen to hunt.

Yes it was a cash grab by trion...but it actually helped the game imo.

Pirate faction is dead lol. Too many care bear pussies and problem children ruined it. There is no decent way to make money as a pirate either. We have been stealing packs and hiding them on the bottom of the ocean rather than turn them in for shitty gildas.

So I started playing again and joined a troll guild, we PK greens, pirate packs, troll faction chat and now I'm having fun. During Trial people get innocent of they say they were killing us based on majority of the faction hating us. I get removed from group for my guild tag it's funny. I do whatever the fuck I want and am enjoying the game now.

I've got a fishing boat, I can make money as long as I can turn them in. Thst being said, anymore there seems to be a surplus of guilds that sit on the traders with 20-30+ people that requires somewhat of a raid force to turn in. Also we weren't trying to do anything. We simply wanted everybody to get along, hell our TS had channels for each pirate guild at one time and everybody hung out there. A few people kept going purple and ganking our members and running their mouths so they got camped at the nui for a few days. Then they drug a few of the smaller guilds into the fight with the same result. You will see, the 4 or 5 people that have been in every guild on the island are the problem. Not us.

I believe yea. Pirate faction being what it is, it will attract some douche bags for sure. However, UL has zero PR skills, I dont see us using kid gloves with anyone who starts shit. We went head to head with OT till they dissolved.

As for fishing. The money isnt from fishing for fish, its from fishing for fisherman =p

Right now we usually run with a crew of 5-15 and take 3-4 fishing boats per pirating trip. run them to one of our island plots and dump the packs. Then once we have 30-40 fish we all turn in and split the money.

I have a fishing boat, but just use it to store fish we steal from other people.

I want to go pirate but i also like my guild and my land :/. I use a mouse macro for land grabs and have made quite a bit of money that way.

As for pirate...not much you can do about losing your guild, but you can farm your land with an non pirate alt and mail the mats to your pirate, then craft and sell it on ah like any other toon.

I've been playing since launch! Didn't see this thread before, I'm Taiku on Tahyang east, Ex-Bushi, they kicked me after our guild leader ragequit the game after the whole Auroria thing haha, glad to see there are other people from here on Tahyang.

I'll certainly keep it in mind but I don't know if I want to go pirate just yet, finally got my first 16x16 plots around my room mate's thatched farmhouse, so I've just been doing a ton of farming/crafting, but once I get more geared up it might be an option!

We just plan to farm on an alt and mail mats to pirate main. Thats how i do it anyways to save on hereafter stones.

Gear wise you can port straight to any of the dungeons in the mainland so can still farm gha etc.

And so far, pirating has been way better money than farming for me. ymmv however.

Last time I went pirating my guild required that we all give the packs over for the leader to turn in for all the gold "to help the guild" so I don't know how much you actually get from it, but it was really fun otherwise. I'm making about 7g every 7-8 min if I don't get distracted by forums while doing it, running packs over the mountain between Rookborne and Falcorth.

It won't be very long before they start caving to the care bears. All that pirating you're doing is going to destroy itself by depriving the game of its core players: the builders, the xplorers, the socializers. If the game can't convince newcomers the game is great and they have a chance then the game will tank within a year, with the writing clearly on the wall long beforehand. You see the same story rehashed every time pvp mmorpg's don't control the environment enough to keep it fair for everyone. Ganking and open-world are #1 enemies of longterm survival for these games.

I haven't played this game yet but I'd be interested in knowing whether the pvp is open world or not? And can a player NOT engage in pvp and still do almost as much or as much as pvpers?

Eve-Online is a good example of a blend of features to allow for some open-world pvp and some care-free gaming for pve players. However, the game is still too niche to ever have an audience comparable to WoW. For pvp to work in big games it must be heavily controlled so it's fair, fast and players can opt in or opt out without penalty.

Just letting you know what I see from the outside looking in. I see you telling us about your pirating exploits and how fun it's. I call to mind the same story told by countless others, all of it eventually amounting to ruin, mostly because the game was setup in such a way that it was preordained to be unpopular or to fail, given the course it was on.

Game is open world PVP. However, at least half the world does not allow pvp. And even the pvp zones rotate between pvp and safe zones. If you dont wanna pvp you can just wait for peace time and then do your questing. The Ocean is always at war however so if you want to cross the sea to trade you need numbers or an escort.

As for it failing, it wont fail due to mechanics, it will be something trion does to piss off the user base. The game has been going strong in korea and russia for years.

The some of the best money in the game requires crossing the open sea. It just comes down to risk vs reward. If you dont wanna pvp you can avoid it the entire game. You can craft from lvl 1-50 and never kill a single mob or person if you want.

But if you want to make money faster by fishing or running trade packs across the ocean there is risk for that reward.

Nuian Archemaester here from Tahyang. Looks like OT crumbled that's pretty funny. Game is fun it is pay to win but you really don't need to. I love making solo trade missions from the east to the west. Stealthing all the way to the ocean then crossing the ocean by yourself is a lot of fun I love the tension. 18 charcoal stabilizers from rookborne to ezna!

Yea, the great thing about EQ was the risk involved. Dying at the bottom of old seb and facing hours of CR time. AA brings some of that back in the sense that there are dangers and repercussions for your choices. Makes victory that much sweeter

Its fine for free players. You cant own land but you can use friends or guildies land or the public farm areas. And you can buy patron status (sub) with in game gold.

That feel when you spend 400 gold to try to craft a chest plate and it rolls STR / INT, fml. The game is full of huge disappointments, failing item regrades, rolling the wrong stats on crafted gear (cutting them off from being able to be crafted to a higher tier) but when you beat the odds and actually get the thing you were after or accomplish something it's a pretty amazing feeling. This game really tests your patience but every time something minor goes my way it makes me want to keep going.

Also this APEX dupe exploit and being able to exploit the Flashy Racing Kit boxes you can buy off the marketplace to give a 100% chance to contain a rumbling sapling (most valuable item in the chest) are pretty hilarious, really hope that gets fixed, but I think the damage to the economy is already done and we'll just have to deal with it till it evens back out. Though with all the bad decisions from Trion I don't see that happening for a while.

Just had my first real taste of ocean pvp, fucking amazing, like 30 guildies on a galleon defending from reds. I've been mainly playing the game as farmville, shits sweet.
