Remember those really really terrible unethical VHS tapes you could buy in the early 2000s where some jackass would pay two bums to duke it out over a hot dog and 20 bucks?

Well, as horrible as that was in real life, I think that same idea could really blossom here in Norrath.

Especially with casinos being banned, I feel like those of us that enjoy a good game of risk -- combined with a good game of sport (in this case murder) -- have been yearning for something like this for a while now.

Two fighters duel. BARE-KNUCKLE BOXING (no weapons/no armor). Each fighter pays 25pp to the referee. The winner wins 50pp.

Being as these will be level 1 naked fighters with no money, we will also need sponsors to fund and spectate the fights. The "sponsors" will be the actual backers of the fighters. They will pay 25pp to the fighter, who will then pay the 25pp to the referee. They can work out a deal with the fighter about who gets to keep what cut if they win. Perhaps a fighter with a proven record and better odds deserves a bigger cut?

We can do as many matches as we have contestants.

Just reply to this thread if you would be interested in helping with this and/or competing as a contestant.

If we get enough interest, we'll set a time and make it happen.

This could be fun if it was just randomly picked newbs in EC or wherever, not necessarily level 1s (that could be a bit boring). I'm sure there are people who would fight over a set of banded armor or a Sword of Skyfire or whatever.

The bare-knuckle part is a bad idea unless you're having monks duel. Hand-to-hand damage at level 1 for a non-monk is a max hit of 2. With running around to avoid attacks and the low skills at level 1, neither character would ever be able to kill the other one; 1hp regen a tick would make up for any damage dealt. If you've ever died on a low level character and tried meleeing crap until you got a weapon, you know how hard it is to accumulate any damage.

I'm actually curious what you use to edit your videos? You do a great job and seem to have a good system down, as you have been releasing quality content on the regular.

Aside from that, not really anything to do yet aside from toss out ideas while we gauge/gather interest. (Already got some great suggestions from the replies above.)

If you or anybody else wants to maybe stand-in as alpha testers, I'll be playing around and testing out various tweaks to the whole process in-game on blue tonight, probably in greater faydark again, but I may also try to move the whole operation back to EC where there are always a guaranteed lot of bored people standing around =)

I'll be tweaking the recording process / sound-effects / music / camera angles so we can get a more polished end result.

Seriously though, that whole experience/debacle is what prompted me to do this. For those of you who missed it, I helped in-a-pinch last weekend when Sirken needed someone to stream the enchanter best of the best tournament. Somehow, I was his Obi-Wan for the day, and Wan does not simply say no to Sirken. ...Especially when he promises you stacks upon stacks of sea dragon meat, no questions asked right?? :D (still waiting by the way) *cough* ...sirken, why don't you return my calls?

So yeah... on the one hand it was awesome to be able to help, but the timing was incredibly shitty, as I already had a full day of farm gallivanting planned. When I got home, there was a message from Sirken saying that over 200 people were watching from my computer while I had been at a farm 20 miles away, riding tractors and shooting apples out of slingshots.

I hereby apologize to anybody who watched that and thought "worst camera guy ever" because, well.. I don't disagree with you.

Hilariously enough, when I returned to my house (just in time to catch the very last fight), I tried to actually move the camera and track the action, but pretty sure I made it worse because everyone started shouting for me to just stand still again.

I don't know. I guess that's just what you get for asking the meat guy to handle your equipment. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Needless to say, I am inspired to redeem myself.

Adobe Premier Pro CC for editing. It'll take you a few videos/some time before you really start to understand it. I record with Fraps and audio commentary with Audacity (which I then noise reduce in post).

I might come on tonight and see what's up actually. Might be fun. I gotta hit the gym right now though. /flex

Also every fight should be a hand selected ring, find cool places for them to box. Would be cool to find a place where they had a chance to fall off or a small spot surrounded by lava.

From there determine what gear they can or cannot wear. Maybe allow for side bets or if I think I'm at a disadvantage I can buff my guy or get some kind of handicap or better odds on the fight.

Once in a while when I'm bored I have a couple of noobs duel. Winner gets 500p, loser gets 100p.

I did have an idea for an event in this spirit, but I'm too lazy to put it together: Ultimate Noob Fighting. The idea is managers would find a noob and enter them into a PvP tournament. Managers would pay an entry fee and gear their noobs. The noobs keep the gear, the managers do whatever they want with the prize money. It's more than I'd want to coordinate, but the idea struck me as fun.
