This blog will be about classic EverQuest and Project 1999, but will be looking primarily at things of classic EQ – such as mechanics, oddities, lore, etc. Discussing server policies, politics, drama, and so on will not be the focus of this blog...

I really like this concept and this first post was well-written and informative.

At some point the Rogue guild leaders in Halas started carrying a pretty crummy dagger with this model, but on Project 1999 they just wield rapiers. This is the only time this model has ever been seen in the game.

In principle, we should see this dagger at some point on Project 1999. See this pre-Luclin Legacy of Steel update (http://www.legacyofsteel.net/Archives/Post/2001-08-26) (dated 8/21/2001).

Dude, yes. I was trying to remember which guild went and killed those NPCs for that dagger so I could reference it in the article. Should have known it was LoS, that was my favorite site back in the day.

Good read. I wonder about 'Antonian' versus 'Antonican'. There is a continent called Antonica and there are Antonican Forges, but then there are 'Antonian' javelins. Is the latter a typo by the devs?

Nice blog. Although the Thornstinger from sky at 12/19 has a better ratio than the RSS as well. It's mainhand only though so you have to swap it with your epic between backstabs. Good read though.

Enjoyed the post. Glaive of Marltek (http://wiki.project1999.com/Glaive_of_Marltek) and Obtenebrate Short Sword (http://wiki.project1999.com/Obtenebrate_Short_Sword) are two additional weapons with descriptors that have this look (as well as the correct item icon). "Glaive" does not seem appropriate for this weapon graphic, either.

If it's a typo, then it's a classic typo. It was live too.

Both words are, of course, from Antonius Bayle. Maybe "Anotnian" has more to do with the person than the place.

Cool blog tho.

Antonia refers to the royalty, Antonica the continent. People who live on Antonica are Antonicans, people who are descended from Antonia / Antonius Bayle and the like are Antonians. They were a heavy part of the beginning EQ2 lore but also in EQ1.

Just to further prove that these models were designed and available in Kunark. Those are all sequence in dragitem20.tga which is the very first set of Kunark icons.

Wu's Fist of Mastery shouldn't be in game before Velious so RSSS should be THE ratio weapon.

Saying that I wanted to make this weekly was a mistake.

I did have something else written for the following week but I decided not to post it. I've been working on another topic.

I'm not going to make the same mistake and suggest when it might be ready.
