With the recent changes to dispells pending patch (strength of dispells and buff/debuff counters), can we talk about reverting golem wands to an instant click item?

Instead of everyone proposing non classic changes for a classic problem, in the most recent case AoNs and nameplates/target rings, I think we should be looking to reclassic-fying things and letting things fall back into their original and by design checks and balances.

golem wands are still ridiculously OP in either scenario and make the gap between melees and casters even larger

in classic golem wands are instant cast and you can simply recharge them on vendors. Before the devs made changes here, they were being used at every simple little 1v1 fight, spam click one to strip someone's 3 buffs (so common they are being wasted).


But then, both the instant-cast has been removed from this server (added a casting time), and recharging via merchant-buyback is also disabled on red (merchants will remember the charge count on each one sold to him)

Classic is insta click. Some time ago all insta clicks were given cast times bcus pvp had turned into clickquest:

Triple click wand
Trak tooth
Planar nuke item click i.e, wand of swords or ivandyr hoops etc
Dead

Golem wand still zaps 4 buffs 99% of the time post-dispel fix. Only the people casting cancel magic (1) are gonna notice anything was even changed.

Since we're on this subject, all the other targetable wands/items with detrimental effects that were flat-out disabled in PvP as a stupid kneejerk reaction to trak teeth:

I didn't mean to imply that recharging an item was contingent on it not being lore.

Most people on red know that it's not possible to recharge any item on this server, unless there's some bug that still allows it.

ya basically it should just be a mana-free version. that alone is enough of a benefit.

And not that it needs to be said, but the original design is flawed by timeline and amount of certain items that people have, as we see with the AON nameplates requirement.

Golem wands among other farmable items were instant click on live, but not nerfed until much later (beyond 'classic') cause it wasn't as obvious how op these items were, now when everyone is pretty much an expert at everquest 15 years later some stuff must remain unclassic, such as the golem wand and trak tooth etc.

I think skelly illusion name plates should be the next change for red, it's already getting crazy with all the skellies, it's only going to get worse, please fix it asap

instant click fix was one of the best fixes here

if you cant win a fight without instant 4 slot pells, you suck

Right now every class has a viable spot in pvp, one of the most balanced eq servers ive ever played on. I played all classic live servers in pvp, and been on this box since the start.

Even with warriors having a super OP mighty strike ability that stuns EVERY single hit. That is currently the most broken ability on the server, but one of the only ways suck people get kills. 100-0 stun locks. Very un classic. Very OP, Very broken, but people like easy kills.

mage epic pet has plenty of uses, no one can lock down a zoneline better


necro has FD, instant click invis, DA, plenty of good spells if you don't SUCK

palidan with mad instant click CH', battle rez, and decent jousting w/ protected DS pot, u can beat any class 1v1, killshots are hard to get as a palidan tho, for sure, but doesn't mean they arnt good in pvp.

and yes you suck, just stop posting

If aon nameplates get removed.. Please make it only for aon. And not removed for enchanters/necros. That is a part of their class.

But I think making aon no drop for a period after they are clicked would also solve the problem. 30 mins would do. 1 month would be more interesting.

I do think the click nerf went overboard with everything becoming pve-only. Only track tooth was a real problem (and should stay pve-only). Especially considering the nuke-nerfs going in, these old clickies won't be as big of a deal.

Restore it to 100%.

I think something people are missing is that these wands are NOT easy to get, Yes you can farm them on a level 45. But the respawn is what 28 minutes? You can go 12 hours and see 0 wands let alone 0 golems. You can go 5 hours and get 8 wands also though, But for the most part the wands are pretty rare drop. Very few people EVER blew 2-3 clicks of insta click wand charge in 1v1 pvp unless they knew it was a 100% kill and there was no zoneline nearby.

In mass PVP yes golem wands were clicked, one person could strip an entire person in 3 clicks before the target even got a chance to spam his insta clickers.
