So I was sick taking beatings with my chanter, and thought I'd die less if I put some AC / HP gear on. So far a very nice improvement. I started to die less.
Currently at lvl 32, my stats are as follow with self buffs *:
470 AC
720 HP
160 INT > 1040 mana
115 CHA
70 cold R
70 MR
I'm not rich by any means, and usually dont carry more than 500p on me and in the bank...

I charm solo quite alot and learned to choose pets 4 or 5 lvl under me. My question is*: CHA doesnt seem to bother me right now, as I can still charm solo quite well with beguile (not so many early breaks) but how long this situation is gonna lasts*?? I love the idea of being a chanter with some good AC / HP's and a decent mana pool. But will the future prove me wrong*?

I always had more CHA vs INT. Critical resists on Lull or Charm always
really bad news. You'll be heading to dungeons where no greens avail
to charm (or they'll get eaten up quickly) and good CHA will help you
keep that charm going.

Always had two +55 HP rings also. That extra 110 hp will save your life.

Get your CHA high enough that you can use your CHA buff to get up to 200 or higher, everything else i'd focus on HP.

INT isn't that important while leveling up by charm killing.

So rather than start a new thread I thought I would just post here and see if anyone has advice. I am still pretty much a newb as a chanter and have been lucky enough to save up and sell things on my mage to buy decent equipment for my Enchanter.

Right now without buffs I have:

268 HP
555 Mana

68 STR
75 STA
119 AGI
100 DEX
83 WIS
131 INT
199 CHA

Would it be more beneficial for me to swap my 5 dex 7 cha rings for the 5 ac 55hp rings?

Would leave me with 90 DEX and 185 CHA but 110 more HP.

Yes, that 110 HP will save your life a lot more than the 14 CHA.

Yes, I still wear 55hp rings. CHA is so much easier to get in other places but HP on gear for casters is hard to come by outside of expensive items like Hierophant Cloak and BCG.

Ok for the CHA, as it seems anyway to be the chanter consensus, but what about AC ? At lvl 32 I got 500 AC, and honestly Im alot more resistant, to me it really seems to make a big difference in how I can survive in dungeons. Mobs rarely hit now for max dmg and often miss. I thought that might be important with adds, not being interrupt while casting etc

You can't really gear specifically for AC without affecting other things. Might as well cast your AC buff if your soloing - though the AC cap from spells is very low so any cleric buff will cap it.

It's a tradeoff. Charisma helps with the average case (fewer charm breaks) but HP/Mana help in the worst case when the random number generator decides to kick your ass.

If you are a high 50s enchanter duoing HS west or the Sebilis disco with a cleric and a L45 pet, Charisma is all that will matter. Get 255 if you can.

If you are a high 50s enchanter trying to solo HS south or East with a L52 pet, then suddenly HP/Mana look a lot more interesting. Because you WILL get RNG fucked and have 10 charm breaks in a row, and each one will take 1k mana (stun, boltrans, bedlam, rune).

note: even if you gear HP, you definitely want a cha set for lull. Generally speaking no amount of hp and mana will protect against a lull crit in a dangerous area; thats just WC cap time.

finally: resists are mostly pointless on an enchanter. You have more tools than any other class to avoid getting nuked.
