Hi guys,
I'm doing a lot of killing zerkers in OT to raise my faction enough to get a hammer. (I dont have the cash to splash on a puppet string charge) but I was wondering, on a scale of 1-10, where would you rate having the OT hammer for a wizard?

Required.

Atleast for raiding, many times people are in far off locations and don't want to burn or don't have a charged cap. So them hammering and meeting people in OT for a port is the quickest option.

It's 2-3k for a hammer, pretty cheap for the convenience of saving time and mana traveling across Norrath grabbing people in odd places to raid or what have you.

I have a wizard & have that hammer. it's nice for that extra gate obviously.

OT is one of the best places to hang out for giving ports for tips, because of all the aforementioned melee's that hammer out of dungeons/raids and need to get to WC.

OT hammer is essential for any porter, really for anybody.

Mobility is fantastic.

A nice extra (for nonporters) is that you can hammer to OT, catch the boat to TD and go for the firepot room.

Never considered that. Good point

Almost always this will take you longer than running to these locations from other port destinations.

Firepots take you to 2 out of the way locations. Cabilis and Halas.

Assuming you're waiting on boat, evaccing across TD and then running to firepots, I am pretty sure you could've ported and run to Cab or Halas in that timeframe. The OT boat is really slow. Like once every hour or something stupid. Oasis boat though recycles every 15minutes roughly.

So unless you get really lucky with OT boat timing, this isn't really a benefit of OT hammers.

But you could probably make back the 2-3k of an OT hammer cost by porting from OT for a few days.

I always spend some time in my early 30s in OT on berserkers (I don't play filthy elves and dwarves). Great exp with braids and faction for OT hammer.

Forgive the stupid question, but I have never played a necro before.

According to the wiki page: http://wiki.project1999.com/The_New_Worker

As a necro, all I need to do is charm him and give him a Jade? Is it really that easy?

yeah, all charm classes can do this quest easy. Others have to faction or use puppet strings.

you have to be amiable, so you have to charm it yourself, I dnt know exact lvl needed but it wont proc til 50, so 49+ if a good bet

I used undead charmon him as a 52 necro. It took 4 or 5 tries so keep steelskin or manaskin on, cast charm from max distance, and be ready to FD.
