Tired of blue. Lowbie Groups are hard to find because zones are overpopulated. Camps are never vacant ...
Looking to return to my glory days by starting an iksar monk!
Stuck working a lot this week, but I'll be joining the ranks of Red on Sunday night!

I look forward to dieing to y'all's madness soon!

Good for you pal. Please update this thread often with tales of your experience on R99 as those provide a lot of entertainment value.

Can do!

I'm pretty sure I've already been ganked in FOB by some reds passing though to city of mist

monk might be a tough choice if you have no plat. it is a fun and great pvp class but with no gear/jboots/pp for pots etc.. you might have a tough starting go of it.

i would recommend a caster class that is less gear dependent to start out.

whatever you decide, GL and welcome to red.

Mmm ok unrest and mistmore...
/e thinks about setting a noob record for the most gullible!

Nah better not.

And I know monks greatly benefit from twinking, but I'll grind it out. Love the monk class, don't have oodles of time to do 2 chars right now, and am not interested in "iksar necro," but thanks for the suggestion!

/e ponders if making frenemies before starting is a bad idea...

MM and unrest aren't actually all that bad, all you have to worry about is knights templar and they hardly ever log on anymore.

Welcome. Make a mage lvl him up til you can summon band aids up and just drop transfer them to your monk. Will save a ton of time. Pm me your ingame name. I have some stuff for you

Make some friends that play a lot, and stick together. The grouping bonus makes levels go really quick.

welcome to red. play what you want I say. ppl often give out decent weapons to newbs too (at least i do).

you can make baby groups in fob and kurns, and then move on to unrest/mistmore/CoM. the reason it's good to go to these zones is exp is so much better when you have a group. red has a huge group exp bonus. so you always want to make friends rather than solo in a hole out somewhere. only thing you gotta watch for is the occasional guy who loads up their level 20 or 30 char with fungis and rogue epics... they got nothing better to do.

Iksar monk is one of the most powerful pvp classes you can make once you get gear...just stick with what you like.

Honestly I've leveled way more alts than I am proud to admit and I usually always just Unrest>mistmoore>City of mist

You will find PVP, but thats the fucking point. Honestly you need to go where groups are and that's where you will find them and level up the fastest and most fun.

don't avoid the pvp, in fact, ignore anyone that tells you otherwise.

If you make a non-evil character, the Mail quest from Felwithe to Kelethin is good starting money and relatively fast (not as fast as grouping, but the starting money is hard to pass up).

Get to lvl 2 off mobs then find someone to bind you near the bard in Felwithe. Get the mail, run outside, suicide on a guard. Get the mail again. Drag your corpse to the bard guild. Turn in both mails. Suicide on the GM. Repeat.

You'll make roughly 1-1.5pp per run which isn't too bad to buy the essential spells and then you might be able to farm and sell CB belts once you get to lvl 5 to buy the rest of your spells. Better money then hoping to find cracked staves anyways.
