View Full Version : How far to solo without fungi?

Hey all, I decided to roll a rogue and fucking love it. He has ragebringer and about 45k in gear, but no fungi. So far I'm tearing blues apart pretty easily at 24 in the OT and I was just wondering how much longer I can expect to successfully level faster solo than grouped. So far soloing is about 3x faster than grouping, but I'm sure there will be some steep drop off point where mobs just hit too hard to solo efficiently without fungi and I'm wondering when that is. Thanks all.

Soon, don't know where you are leveling but after 30 you will start to feel the pain from the mobs. Could duo with any fearing or snaring class very well though. BS for the win.
If you have JBoots and/or a snare weapon, then intimidation can start to pick up the slack at the higher levels when monster damage becomes a bigger factor. TBH I'm surprised that you're in your 20s without a fungi and still doing fine. I think that it's definitely going to drop off soon even with intimidation.

I do have jboots and a snare weapon, but I find intimidate to be very unreliable. I have it maxed and it only seems to land every 1/4 cast on a blue. When it does land I absolutely destroy whatever I'm fighting though.

My best friend was a rogue and I was a necro. We duo'ed to 60 easily, we'd nonstop pull mobs, snare/fear. I'd sometimes go get more while her and my pet were beating them down.

The guy I came to this server with has a necro, unfortunately that's the toon I duoed my mage to 60 with. His second toon his a bard. A bard doesn't really need anybody to "duo" with. :p

Yeah, it gets more reliable as you level.

You can duo pretty well with a shaman, also probably decently with a 29+wiz
At around level 25, as a Monk, I find Intimidation (Instill Doubt) extremely useful. I'd estimate it works around 30-40% of the time, and it occasionally happens that I chain fear a mob. It's hell to melee a moving mob, but depending on much it switches pathing, it can be okay, and is still great as you're not getting hit. Try strafing alongside the mob and it's much easier to hit.

it used to be reliable. but they changed it. now my rogue can hardly land it on a green
it's much more like how it used to be on live. pretty unreliable

I solo'ed a rogue w/ Ragebringer and an Ikky BP up to 46 with no problem at all. I didn't even have to mess with intimidate. I didn't even bother filling most of my slots.
My advice would be get a Rubi BP, at least. Even a little regen goes a long way.

Grab some root nets, a bunch of bandages. Jboots. Fungi is fantastic for lowering downtime but it's not necessary. There are very few fights where the extra (15hp/6s x 10 ticks/min = 150hp /minute) will save you. If you're getting really low, drop a root net. Heal up and wait for root to break.
