Posting this in RNF because this is where all threads should really end up anyways.

You're one hell of a volunteer for putting up with this circus and not running for the hills.

I don't know what you get out of doing it, but I know you've gazed into the abyss by dealing with the people around here.

With that said...

I motion that either Sirken or Derubael not liking you should be grounds for a ban. Because, these guys put up with a ton of shit and still manage to be pleasant in their dealings. If you've gone so far as to actually cause them to hate you... you should be gone. Hopefully Rogean signs this and we can get the streets cleaned up around here.

I mean again... volunteers and this community is very toxic in places still. Their hands are often tied because they can't just take out shit bags like they should be able to. I imagine they are also overwhelmed with sorting things out for said shitbags. Maybe a glimpse into the petition queue would change your mind Gaffin? I dunno, aint seen it either.

It's filled with horrors in sure. I agree, the punishment for being a shit bag should be more extreme here than on live. When you got banned on live it cost you not only the time played but also the cost of the boxed game.

If people know that bad shit is going to happen if they fuck with the rules then they'll fall in line quick.

Nirgon

Well when you got banned on live... the next expac was coming within a year.. there wasn't a billion % xp bonus... guilds were busy figuring things out because there wasn't a googled how-to for everything.

The point is really that Sirken/Derubael don't have their entire day to devote to following around scum bags waiting to catch them red handed doing whatever the fuck it is.

I have yet to see one good, normal, rule abiding player draw the ire of Sirken or Derubael. They don't have pixel jealousy of people, they don't pry into people's RL business.. they're good guys... and their hands are often tied which would honestly be my biggest turn off to being a GM here... knowing you have to watch people shit the server up but since you can't be online 24-7 to catch them, you can do nothing.

He's been around and helping people, including following up with me things (that he didn't have to do because he's a volunteer and the community is shit to him... at least certain people... that he should be able to just ban and forget about). Promise.

doing things in the past you regret shouldnt be put against you like most gm's tend to do here though

some live by once a scumbag always a scumbag but i disagree, people make mistakes and fuck up etc

when you dont even answer petitions because of someone's name or dont care to help them from shit 2 years ago its just stupid

/rant off oh well i dont care im happy on red just my 2 cents

Eslade

I'm talking ip bans for the people who do get caught. Banning of anyone caught knowingly helping somebody play after an ip ban. The population will go down a little but more people will come.

I'm talking about people who do not.. both servers.

The No Wipe policy is a curse for the server.

Nilbog and possibly Rogean keep denying the fact for whatever reason that the current state of red is going nowhere.

They wanted to recreate classic, because classic eq was the best mmorpg experience we all ever had. But then they keep failing to see that its overdue to restart red to fill the server once again. We don't want blue pixels, we want pvp, and not just once a week when bosses spawn.

Red.... We all know what has to be done at this point and it's not velious.

They do put up with a lot of shit but it doesnt give them a blank card to act like jerks (Which i dont think they do most of the times) I had an incident where Sirk shut down discussion giving me thin veiled threats like "you dont wanna go there"

Incident #1 was: Guy gets bound away from pots through pvp, meaning he wasnt careful of who he grouped with and ends up bound elsewhere. GM reinstates his pot bind.

Incident #2 (mine): My nephew breaks his arm, my mom comes ringing my doorbell like a maniac MAX BROKE HIS ARM U COMING WITH ME TO HOSPITAL RIGHT NOW U GOTTA TAKE A SHIFT WAITING FOR HIM Allrite mom geez... dress up real quick and forget EQ is on. Bound in water, delevel from 59 to 53.

Using jurisprudence of incident #1, i ask if my pot bind can be moved 10 feet away so i dont death loop in the water if something like this ever happens again, explaining in my petition the emergency i had. Firm no, with a hint of U serious with this? I mention incident #1, asking why that player was given preferential treatment. The "you dont wanna go there" comment which shut down discussion.

If i cared more id put more examples, but you get the picture anyway.

Yes GMs here are saints for GMing for free this asylum. Most of the times nothing but good things to say about the effort they put in. But they dont need to be told they have infaillible judgement, cuz they dont.

They were. You were asking them to change the bind point due to no one else's fault but your own to somebody losing a valuable bind spot due to some other player griefing. Stop bitching about shit that happens with a volunteer staff in a game that you don't even play anymore.

So you're saying that if I port a melee up to plane of hate instead of dreadlands and leave him there to die, he shouldn't expect to the gm's to take action if said player has no way of getting his body back?

Though thats what you get when you decide you need to interfere as a GM in the sandbox.

On an ideal server, would be posted in big bold letters that this is a risk you take when grouping with someone you dont know.

I knew it was my fault that i deleveled, knew it was my fault that i bound in the water instead of on top of the spire, but i wanted to test the consistency of GM calls.

I was also this guys fault to group with people he didnt know, and to not drop group when he heard that distinctive bind spell sound effect.

Thats my point

Tradesonred
10-03-2014, 06:17 PM
Thats why i like the least GM interference possible

A cop does not interpret the law, decide when he will or will not apply it, he simplyapplies it. In theory.

I think Derupal and Sirken should be the only people wielding bannhamers and rogean and pals and other dev friends should be asking them for permission to ban people and all they should have to do is click yes/no or txt yes/no to ban requests that way they can set up a script to automatically ban everyone

Just wanted to chime in and say thx Nirgon, and everyone else who stops by my PM box/tell window/forums to give us support. It's easy to forget that there is a very vocal minority who will never be happy no matter what we do, and that they will always cry the loudest and be heard most often. We perform in our positions without the expectations of thanks or congratulations, but that doesn't mean it doesn't help to re-affirm what we are doing here when we do hear the positives over the negatives, or receive high praise from long-time community members.

they answer item petitions once every 6 months for red, they been gone, 2-3 pod casts for LNS policy then no where to be found, havent seen a gm on red in months

log on blue always about 4 at any given time giving our unicorn illusions

Up until recently, I was on Red almost every day. Sirken stops in when he is able. Aussie is always on red when he is in his allocated CSR time. Hell, even Eunomia stops in from time to time when she feels up to it.

I end up doing many red item reimbursements each week, item reimbursement threads don't go into a "red" and "blue" section of the petition forum - they are all clumped together in one giant pile. I start from the bottom of the pile and work my way forward (oldest date to newest), so anyone who bumps their petition is screwing themselves. Oddly enough, Sirken works the opposite way (top of the stack to the bottom) so if your thread is marked (sirken) or (Sirken, verified), bump it once a day.

I won't be offering CSR dispute as it relate to Red99 player disputes, scams, rule violations, etc.

I will, however, still be doing all of the database look-ups for both servers, since no one else has access to the back end database, which has significantly more information/power/tools than the "front-end", and only takes custom built queries so you can get the information you need so long as you know what you are doing. I'll also continue to handle RMT investigations/bans for both servers, as well as TPP (Third Party Program) usage, and anything else that requires a database look-up (which somehow ends up being needed for an inordinate amount of stuff), or is a 'black book' project assigned to me by Rogean or Nilbog that the player-base never hears about but nonetheless is essential to ensuring a consistent and enjoyable experience for everyone on both servers.

I still <3 Red 99 and will still be here offering support, you'll just be far less likely to see me in game. This will allow me to focus better on making sure items that poof due to server error get reimbursed faster, that disputes requiring database look-ups will get addressed sooner, and that other "derubael only/mostly derubael" petitions, like ban appeals, get processed more regularly.

Both Sirken and I have been working really hard on making sure we are holding consistent policies as often as possible on both Red and Blue, and do as much as we can to improve the play experiences of those who enjoy Project 1999 in the time we have available. Fortunately, we have an excellent CSR staff here to support us in doing that, and I can say in earnest that there is no way we could offer the level of support we currently do on Red and Blue without the assistance of Senior Guide Eunomia, and Guide's Aussie and Moregan. All 3 of these staff members are willing to go the extra mile to make sure that the "front-line" things that need to be taken care of are addressed as quickly as possible whenever they are online, and they are able to quickly identify and bring to our attention issues that need to be dealt with or resolved by a GM.

A very special thanks to Eunomia, who makes my life as database GM about a million times easier with her exhaustive front-end look-ups before I go backend digging. She often takes on projects that would take me upwards of an hour to do and instead substitutes her own time to cut that down to a fraction of what it should have been. IN addition to this she screens most/all of Sirken's reimbursement petitions, verifying them 100% so that all Sirken has to do it login, summon the items, close the thread and move to the next one. This entire verification process allows us to move quickly from reimbursement to reimbursement without getting bogged down in discovery work.

She is also our resident IP exemption Grandmaster, and has been almost single-handedly keeping the petition forum moving constantly in a forward direction ever since being brought on staff. If you've requested an IP exemption in the last 6 months, you likely had it granted within 24 hours, as opposed to the two, three, sometimes upwards of a month that it used to take for these to be given. She continues to step forward to not only meet, but exceed even our most demanding expectations. If you see her in-game, be sure to thank her for everything she does - you never know if you might be the next person to end up with a poofed item or a goofed drop transfer!

oh, and if you are rude to her, or any of our Guides for that matter, we'll come down on you so fast and with such deadly precision you will still be sitting at your computer a week later trying to figure out what "Your account has been banned" means, and why that message pops up on every account you own ;)
