New to EQ PVP

I'm starting up on Red this week, since my group fell apart on blue and I'm losing interest over there. I think some pvp mixed with pve will be a breath of fresh air.

I've never played EQ pvp, but I grew up playing pvp games like Meridian 59, DAOC and others, so I think I won't run and cry the first time im ganked. :)

Just a couple questions:

1) what level until you can use global ooc?
2) are there any active low-mid level guilds grouping?

I'll be in game as either Zataya or Kianae.

I think SLAMDUNKNATION is a low end guild??
