The Project 1999 forums just got their first (that I know of anyway) legal notice:

Legal Threat Post: http://www.project1999.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1624998&postcount=9
Whole Thread: http://www.project1999.com/forums/showthread.php?t=166038

Do we have any intellectual property lawyers (or just lawyers in general) here who can weigh in on whether this guy is just a troll or whether he has a legit claim?

The "CEO" is an idiot or a troll. Nothing more needs to be said.

1. The tracker of auctions webpage linked in that thread doesn't even use the mark "Auction Tracker". It is simply used as generic term in a thread title.

2. There is zero chance of likelihood of confusion between any of Mr. Wilson's potential clients and the P99 EC tunnel peeps.

3. Mr. Wilson's trademark is a different field of goods & services than the tracker of auctions service offered in the linked thread.

Word Mark AUCTION TRACKER
Goods and Services IC 009. US 021 023 026 036 038. G & S: computer software for use in the management of fund raising events or tracking guests, volunteers, donors and sponsors, assigning goods numbers and seating assignments, exporting to other programs and generating the necessary reports. FIRST USE: 19920000. FIRST USE IN COMMERCE: 19920000

4. There are zero damages.

5. If Mr. Wilson took this to any competent lawyer, he would be laughed out of their office.
