Hello there..
In a few hours I will join you on 1999, cant wait for it :D
my main will be a Monk, but later on, my first goal is a farm Char to make pp, farm gear for monk (and himself).
but I cant decide between Necro, Druid (have expirience with both back in the day) and Enchanter..
What I see is..Necro is good for solo spots in dungeons and aggro/fear kiting..maybe at spots where other classes fail. But no speed buff, no Ports
With Druid I can Port for donation, outdoor kiting, and have fast movement. Ah and can heal in Groups if I want to..
Enchanter I never played, back in the day I saw them in every group, charming, messing and buffing around. So I guess ENC would be fine for sitting in EC Tunnel and getting donated for clarity and haste buffs, like druid with Ports..and for grouping.
mh can anyone help me out with that? What are your opinions for the overall "best" class for a farming char out of these 3?
thx

Bottom line, of course, is to do what you have fun doing.
That aside though, in my opinion if you are making your monk first and playing him primarily, you really shouldn't make an alt to farm with to supply your monk with gear. Just play the monk full time. Monks are decent-enough soloers so if you get him levels, he will be able to kill stuff or sell PL or whatever to make you some ok cash (besides just grouping, especially duo/trio, at higher-level cash camps). And by using JUST the monk, you save all the "lost" time that you'd need to level the alt to a point he can do anything meaningful.
But if you are dead set on making one of these three, the answer still is "it depends."
If you want to farm somewhat casually, with a character that isn't necessarily max level, then druid or necro would be best. Druid can sell some PL and ports and buffs and do some limited farming like mid-level named camps (stuff from glowing black stone and jboots and goblin earring up to chief/bodyguard in droga, sniping nameds in KC, etc). Necro is better at the actual farming, but doesn't have the porting/PL potential that a druid does.
Enchanter is the stronger choice for level 60, high-end farming, where you're camping level 50+ nameds for their gear and then selling it. You won't make much money selling chanter buffs though, and leveling all the way to 60 and learning how to handle tough camps (especially if you are trying to solo once Velious comes) is pretty tricky and time consuming.
Ah and can heal in Groups if I want to..
But definitely don't do something like this UNLESS you like doing it in and of itself. You'd be much better off just playing the monk than having a druid alt that you group with. Levels are basically THE key to making money with every class, and like I said, monk can do pretty well at that whether casually soloing mid-level camps or grouping at cash camps or, best of all, pairing up with 1-2 others (shamans, clerics, enchanters mainly) and doing higher-level camps.
You're not going to make much plat buffing on this server, there's always plenty of level 60's sitting in the tunnel doing it for free, Myself included.
I'm not sure monk is a great first toon since you can't loot like a mad man, but any toon 50+ will be able to make money. Every camp in KC or Seb drops something of value. The trick is to level, that's where money comes from, not farming.
Once you're 60 and want extra pp that's why you camp freeti or Frenzy or whatever on your monk and start farming. Until you're 60 Don't worry about it.

Hey there...
I guess you got it wrong a bit, The Way with the farm char IS fun for me, I always do this in Games, if possible. The Monk will be the "Luxus", but first I wanna play a good alround Char.
The only Char of these 3 (Druid,Necro, ENC) I dont know (and if I would have fun playin him) is the ENC.
Maybe I dont lvl him up to maxlvl all the time, so not Enchanter, its goin between Druid and Necro. Mhm...
Ah okay,so buffing for pp is not the best idea uh? I was just remembering ENCs back in the day 2000 sitting in the Tunnel and take donations for Clarity (Kodiacs endless intellect?) and haste.

Druids are pretty bad at making money unless you are powerleveling.
Porting is enough to pay for some mid-tier upgrades and your spells. But you won't be buying a Hiero Cloak or even an FBSS with porting unless you do it for a very very long time.

Nobody pays for enchanter buffs. You can say "Buffing clarity for donations" all day long and most people will not tip you. Some will give you 1pp. Some will actually give you their waste gold and silver.
One time a guy offered me 1pp for clarity. I buffed him. He then gave me 100 silver and thought I should be grateful because enchanters are a dime a dozen. Lmao.
People just don't pay for clarity or sow. They pay for ports... but porting isn't enough to twink a MONK!
The best way to gear a monk is to get your monk to Level 60 and complete content.

So the Necro will be more "efficient" overall you say?

Necro or Enchanter if you want to farm plat. In both cases you won't be able to make decent amounts of money until you're in your 50s. At 60 you have a lot of really good options.

Okay, then it will be the Necro again. Played one back in vanilla and had a lot of fun.

The necro would have been my recommendation. Enc is not the easiest class to play solo or in a group.

But are probably the most powerful solo class overall.

Agreed - that's why my main is a lowbie chanter.

I also enjoy farming during leveling as well, if find it fun :)
some of my farmspots while leveling my nec was wisps on Eruds Island (never got the earring tho) and guards in neriak, paineel, misty, oggok, grob and felwith :)
Guards are imo a great source of income for any nec :)

If you are looking to just make money and not level up a chanter/Druid/nec up to the 50s then I would definitely go with a Druid you will make much more plat porting at level 40 and under then farming with a nec or chanter around the same level.

Druid is good for port money and you don't even have to lvl them up very high to do it. You could port enough to get 2x SoS, 2x 5/55 rings, and maybe an fbss and have lots of fun on a monk.
Necro/ench would have to be max lvl or near it before you reap the benefits. I once read lvl 54 is the halfway point in this game. Something to think about when you just want pp for a monk.
Lvl 34 druid = fastest way to get items for your monk.

The time it takes you to level a Druid to 34, and then for you to get money enough to buy an FBSS... You could've gotten the monk to his 40s.

Well monk is the funnest class to twink. OP wants to gear a monk with another class and druid is the answer.

Why not gear the monk....by playing the monk? If all you are doing is making a toon to get the monk's starter gear that's a complete and total waste of time. The monk could be level 10 in an hour of walking out of his starting city, and rolling in cash himself in hour two off trash mobs.
The OP should be asking where to best level the monk that will also allow him to earn some money. There are plenty of solo newbie spots that money can be made.

Eh possibly.
FBSS and 55 HP rings aren't gonna make monk uber fun to solo on. Atleast not beyond level 20. Not without a ton of downtime bandaging
Fungi, CoF and Epic would... But it would take you a year of porting to afford one of those items.

I hooked up my level 1 with cured silk, fbss, 2x trance sticks and two 55hp rings and I can shred yellows pretty effectively. Definitely fun, but I could only imagine if I had a Fungi. Have to start somewhere though!

This.
Go necro or enchanter. Druid is not worth it for pure profit. Port money only gets you low-mid lvl items. Any high level items would take months and months of port money.

It will take 2-3 weeks to get a druid to 34 to get easy port money, a lot easier then to get a necro/chanter to 60, I dont get the point of spending that much time on a character you dont even wanna play.

But in the time it takes you to get to 34, then accumulate enough port money to buy some HP rings, a decent weapon, a few stat items and maybe a haste item... your monk would be probably 40+ with probably enough to buy all of those things except perhaps the haste item. Then just a few more levels of grouping and a decent roll in a group, and there is your haste item.
If he does this in all games, gets an all around character to twink out a lower one... go big or go home. 34 druid for porting isn't going big.
You could do 60 druid for powerleveling, or 60 necro/enchanter for farming. But aiming so low as a 34 druid is useless since he could just group and acquire nearly as much (while leveling the character he cares about) in the same period of time.

I agree with you completely, just play the class you want to play, heck just selling CB/DF belts, spider silk, goblin ears, bone chips ect at low levels can get you enough plat to have a decently equiped character.

That's assuming you have to be a lvl 60 necro to farm... which you don't, not even close.

Pretty sure you can make more money at 49 in Sol A wrecking shit on a necro than porting at 34 on a Druid.

Sheer grinding out money per hour the Necro wins hands down. Big money camps can work but are way too reliant on luck, availability of camp, and finding someone who won't try to lowball you on the price.
Much better just to blast music and send your pet on a murder rampage in Grobb.

How much platinum per hour do you make farming Grobb guards, exactly?
A good ENC can clear 50k a week easily in HS South, so they're clearly the answer to this question.
I've made around 70k in the last 16-18ish hours of farming, but I've also had shitty luck and had 10k weeks, so it's really luck dependent, but a good week on an ENC can only be matched by a SHM poopsocking Tranix or Hiero.

Blitzkragg's poopsocking of Tranix right now is impressive. I think he has been there for every spawn every 8 hours for the past 2 weeks.
I have no idea how someone does that, but it's being done!
