View Full Version : Xp tweak, a little something to help new players find groups

One thing id do if i had the keys to the box is make solo leveling equivalent to at least duoing xp or 80%. Xp is incredibly slow compared to even having one guy in your group, and at 2 people you start to see a huge difference.
So that its such night and day from having even one person in your group, that its practically wasting your time to try and solo. So what you do is you log out (at least, im sure thats what alot of people do after sluggin it out for a little while). Then the next person logs in, sees no one in the newbie zone, logs out till next time.
If you put solo xp to duoing, or something like 80% the bonus value of duoing, what it would do i think is make people stick it out longer solo so the chances for you to find a group augment significantly.
Im not asking xp to be nerfed, it just feels silly to be able to make 3 hours work of soloing in 10mins of grouping with 3 people. The incremental step is too steep from 1 to 2.
I think this simple tweak would boost lowbie activity quite a bit.

This sounds nice -- Keep the group exp same as it is now, but solo higher~ I'm on Taiwan time myself, so it's VERY difficult to find even a duo partner when 30 people is online in the world.
Groups would still be greatly encouraged since the xp bonus is still significantly higher.

Yeah let's cheapen the only reason to group because you log on and immediately expect to find a group. How about free jboots and a port ability for all classes?

It would still be better xp to duo and find groups, it wouldnt make people want to group less

The real issue with the group xp bonus vs solo is this. Some times you group with a consistent group and really rock things but say you miss a night or 2 of playing you come back and those people are out of range or close to it. Trying to make that up solo is pointless and there isn't a constant influx of people to balance this out. I am in favor of bumping up solo xp for this reason alone. The naysayers are just scared of the up and comers challenging their twinks.

Just allow 2 boxing a second toon that can be max level 49... that way even at 60 you can logon and camp something, farm something, or even start a group if no one else is on... or keep a group alive if a healer has to log... also solves the exp issue..

if solo exp got better i would stop inviting warriors and rogues wielding rusty weaps to my level 20+ groups and just solo

yeah this was proven before the exp bonus when you would maybe see one group at a time on the whole server

Just go out there and grind, complaining about not finding groups, and saying, "give us a bonus for being lonely", that is just going to encourage more soloing. If you cant find a group then go solo, or move to another zone to find groups. What is the big deal, you are not going to beat this game in a month.

Its telling that the first thing i think about wanting to start a new toon, after spending 2 days solid playing here as a lowbie on a weekend is asking in OOC if someone wanted to exchange a PL.
Because I wasnt going "through that" again.
There just isnt that many people at low levels and this would help for sure

this is a low pop server effect not an exp rate thing

I might have had a run of bad luck
Anyhow, i just dont understand why you guys are fighting an idea that would obviously help people starting out
Ground out 1-7 last night alone in swamp, had to port a guy in finally after 3 hours to duo
Bottom line is it wouldnt hurt people wanting to group, and would make soloing less tedious so more chances people stick it out long enough to form a group, win-win

i dont think ur grasping the idea that the only reason there are more groups these days is because soloing is inferior
the second soloing is on par with grouping it will be almost everyones first option because you can do it at your own convenience, and most long term players have good enough gear that they can solo well even as melees
the people this would screw over would be the terribly geared newbies that HAVE to group, the very same people you claim your trying to help

If you wanted to change anything I'd put in the LFG window where you can see the levels/classes of those that are lfg. Would make finding a group a hell of a lot easier.

Have you even read the suggestion before kneejerkingly poopooing it? This would in no way make soloing superior to even duoing.

no one wants to spend an hour finding people to group with if they can get tolerable exp on their own

All the people that are answering about xp boost are the max level trolls that don't want their permanent de lvld 20 twinks to have people go OOR fast lol.
Solo xp boost is a great idea -- the population is still too damn low. Yea it's rising, like the water level of the ocean though lol, slow.
Whoever said "GIVES NO REASON TO GROUP IF IT GIVES DUO XP" you're an idiot ... duo you can kill twice as fast, giving you double the xp even if it matches solo.. still incentive even with a duo partner.

The exp is already set up similar to what you are asking for. You get something like a 50% boost solo and 100% boost as a duo don't you?
My understanding in how it works:
Kill 100 exp mob solo and you get 150 exp
Kill 100 exp mob duo and you get 200 exp/2 = 100 exp per person.
You have to kill 1.5 mobs in a duo to equal 1 kill solo. What's the problem and why is fighting solo so worthless?
