View Full Version : Ikky Monk in need of a reality check?

Hello,

Just reached 23 on my first character here, and my time at Kurn's has probably ended after milking it dry from 11-23...

What is the reality for the outlook of my life ongoing? How would I keep up the good experience so far all the way on up?

I'm not geared whatsoever, so grouping is a necessity - and I'm a monk so I can't really solo... I'm just hoping the reality check isn't going to be 'reroll wizard/druid'.

Thoughts?

Thanks,

Go to the next high ZEM dungeon in your level range is the first thing that comes to mind.

Thanks for the reply!

Good list - it looks like Highpass Keep(among others) is within range and is paired with a very high ZEM... I guess the concern now becomes the availability of group members!

But among the other high ZEM areas within the mid 20's range, any suggestions for where to find groups?

Thanks again,

The only problem I can see is that you're an Iksar and it's going to be hard to skill up. As far as groups go, I'd recommend unrest but also warn you that most of the pvp in your level range happens there.

unrest or MM - i always find groups in the evening (US timezones).

yes there is PVP and gankers but exp far outweighs downtime caused by the heavily twinked gankers.

Monks are excellent at soloing. I'm not sure where you got the idea contrary to that. Level up your intimidation skill to fear kite, always use Mend (it gets better and stops killing you), level your sneak up to 115 (mash the button nonstop) so you can vendor places, use FD to bank.

With that said grouping is by far the best XP, so you really shouldn't be trying to solo as your primary form of leveling.

just keep making new characters and asking for handouts, you will be able to twink soon

Again, thanks for the responses...

I've have not experienced PvP in the starting areas of Kunark, yet - so, I assume my first encounter will happen when transition to the other continents...

If I leave for Unrest or MM, and just get creamed/ganked... is there any specific strategy y'all use to get back up on your feet? Get killed, then just run back to the camp like nothing happened?!

Thanks,

If there's zero chance of you getting your body away from your attacker, you can call for a loot and scoot. But if you try to get your body first without calling for one, then it gets taken off the table. After you loot, you have to leave the zone for an hour.

Go to MM and group there. At 30 return to Kunark for Flying Kick.

Tewaz,

The modified for MM is 90? - that seems really low compared to the ZEMs of the other zones like Highpass Keep.

:)

SLAMDUNKATRON currently has a lot of 20s leveling. Feel free to /t someone and we'll find out if there is a group around. I think most of our newbie core is on Kunark also, so it makes it very easy if you didn't want to move. Pretty active in the evening for eastern / pacific.

Exp modifier means very little on Red.

You are looking for Groups>>>>>>>>low pvp>>>>>>>>exp modifier.

I soloed my monk at giant fort in WW from 20s to 30s. Left here and there for groups in Loio or wherever. For the most part I was fearkiting giants though. You're super close to the back door into cab for selling stuff and leveling skills. Loot is good too. With the weapons and gems etc. they drop. You might even get a nice earring or two out of the deal. Start on the saplings and forest giants, work your way up to evergreens.

Just start clicking intimidate every single time it comes off cooldown. Even on things you don't need to fear. It builds up to a point of working almost every time and even if it doesn't work, the cool down doesn't take long.

If you go to MM, PM me and I can hook you up with a trance stick.

Try to get some buddies together and beat up Dalnir, get nice Crescent Armor and Fighting Batons.
