Has the Flame Lick agro changed? I used to be able to stack 3 or 4 flame licks and hold agro till a mob was dead...doesn't seem to work as well anymore.

Kiting Renux for a rogue when I don't want to waste all my mana is about the only time I use Flame Lick aggro kiting. But I haven't noticed any change with its aggro potential.

I like to charm a pet that i know behaves well and kite 4 or 5 mobs down to 10%, kill them all at once, then reuse the pet. I haven't had much luck doing it since i've come back...maybe i'm just out of practice.

Pet agro was changed. Try kiting with pet taunt off and see if you notice a difference. Otherwise, that mechanic might have changed too much to be viable with charm kiting.

Turning taunt off did the trick! Thanks for the tip.

I still have trouble keeping aggro with taunt off and casting 3-4 flame licks on top of snare. Is it impossible keep full aggro when charm kiting?

Pet Agro was changed to attempt to un-fuck mages. You're going to have to generate a bit more threat. Try ES Gloves over and over.

I'll try those when Im a bit higher level. Thanks.

For now, duo'ing with a rogue is working great. I can kite with snare/flame lick much easier and not lose aggro

Nerfbat, I'm a returning player and trying out different kiting techniques at level 35.. I haven't tried charm kiting. I let all my pets obtain aggro and then just nuke whichever one has lowest health after breaking charm - then I go and find another pet. This is kind of a pain because I do have to find a new pet that isn't con yellow or white to me after every kill. Also, it does seem some pets hold charm longer than others.

Have you done that methodof charming yet and have you found you holding aggro to be better while your trusty pet just hits it from behind? I can generally kill 1-3 mobs doing it the way mentioned above but if I can take on 5 using only pet I think I'm going to make a switch.

this is the method i almost always use when solo charming

you want to be getting max damage done to all potential xp targets, think of your charms as a very efficient aoe, you want to damage as many mobs as possible

dont use slow, and rarely use haste, since its not as efficient as using mana for another charm

As others have explained here - charm a mob and let it tank the other mob. Break charm when both are low health and kill both. For charming, that's the best method. Flame lick just can't hold aggro vs. pets.

Now when I duo with my brother's rogue. I can snare kite with flame lick and he can dps it down without taking aggro. That works out very nicely as well. Im sure this would work just as well with a monk's dps.
