So I recently Started playing again and have been getting a lot of PvP while leveling. My question is what can I do to combat wizards and druids who simply 2 or 3 shot me with quick nukes? I understand I need to sink my dots, but usually I after I land disease cloud and poison bolt I am on the run or dead before I can splurt. I am almost 53 now and deflux should help a ton. I'm also trying to get some fire resists. Pets just draw aggro and force me to zone. My spells all have huge cast times and people seem to interrupt my los, while I can run around any obstruction and still get hit by theirs. Posted from phone at work on lunch, sorry for grammar.

Fear. CoS makes the enemy lose target. Lifetap when they nuke you. Send pet to bash. Snare melee or root.

I thought you couldn't fear players on Red due to griefing?

He doesn't play red obviously. You cannot fear players. Darkness being a two part spell is always resisted and everybody has 100+ Mr. Trying to land root huge waste of time and mana. Wizards nuke me for 450 or 750 while my best lifetap restores less than half of that. & like I said pet is laughable, easily rooted or worst feared forcing me to zone all the aggro. Anybody who plays red want to jump in here?
Don't mean to sound like a dick Toolshed, just looking for some solid tested tactics.

You can't do anything; Necros are atrocious 50+ in PvP.
The new resists being tested should help somewhat, but unless you get the jump on someone who isn't runed you're going to lose.
Don't cast Splurt. It is bugged and does not do full damage on P99. It is missing its last tick, which is its most powerful tick, and no way anyone is going to keep Splurt on them for full duration.
The only dot you should cast is Bond of Death, because it will heal you for full damage and sometimes bugs so that it doesn't show up on other people's spell window.
Most battles will go like this: you Bond of Death, if you are still alive you either Lifetap or Harmshield, wait for Bond of Death to heal you 3 ticks, then start chaining Lifetap. If everything goes well you'll force said person to gate, you'll get no yellow text, they'll come back to repeat the process until you get unlucky and they'll kill you.

It's okay buddy, just keep your head down and farm some delicious melee twink loots. You'll be steamrolling people in no time!

I don't play on red, and was just giving my example of what it was like playing on a PvP server on live. No fear in PvP?? That sounds awful. Why would they change that? I definitely remember getting feared in PvP; necros were one of the strongest PvP classes on live because they would just lifetap any damage you put out, snare you, and then fear kite you til the death
How much are the CoS's on red? Can you still use that to lose target?

Any invis makes you drop off target.

Envenomed Bolt and Cessation of Cor land pretty well for me. I use those. I also try to time my harmshield/veil so that I have dots working on them and when they start casting a nuke. This lets you do work while wasting some of their mana. If mobs are not too much of an issue shadowstep is also invaluable with melee beating on you. It can allow you to land another dot tap that can turn the tide.
All this being said you are almost always going to have a bad time if you are not getting the drop on someone. That initial dot landing way up on buff list does wonders for a fight.

Does invis drop target even if the targeting player has See Invis? I'd guess not.

E-Bolt good damage, but 2/3 nerf really hurts it. CoC's strength debuff is hilarious. Sadly both get cured pretty fast when you harmshield :(
I wonder how badass Necros would be if they got rid of the 2/3 dmg nerf on DoTs AND nerfed cure potions like they did other clickies; Necrmancers would still die pretty fast because of how fragile they are, but they'd at least take out the other guy. Shaman would become really good, too.

Yeah it doesn't drop target.
