gonna type this up quick, i figure either you've seen it or you haven't, here are all the key points

build a pc in november, shut it down each night, turn it on every day after work, it never turned itself on

move from apartment to house in june

same pc, same components, same everything, installed the os myself and all that

shut it down each night, now it turns itself on at arbitrary times :(

anyone know what could be causing this? maybe bad grounds or something in the house triggering the on?

------------------------------

haven't done any testing to see if its a certain time each night or any of that

its annoying because i liked to put on a video, fall asleep, then i'd have a script shut my pc down for me after like 90 minutes or something, and my tv auto shuts off 10 minutes later, it was nice. so its annoying not to be able to do that

any help appreciated, thanks

srsly tho, check in bios if its set to reboot on power loss. if the power dips below a certain threshold while its off, could lead the machine to starting itself.

i have an old hp that turns itself on every time i plug it in. dont have to push power or anything. in the bios there is a setting to change that, but resets every time cmos is flipped.

Check for "power on by LAN" in your bios.

Not withstanding any good advice here; but you could also just unplug it from the back.
