Dear Friends,

Do you recommend any other MMORPGs besides Project 1999? I figure we have the same taste since we're all still playing this 15 year old elf simulator, so you can probably recommend some good alternatives (ideally with grouping). Thanks!

I'm waiting for Uthgard and/or the Shadowbane emu to come back up.. other than that, I've been sitting online for like 2 hours a night trying to find an mmo to play that isn't pay to win.

Downloaded TERA - but it's kinda boring

yea tera is awful.

i just started swtor and although grouping is optional people are remarkably sociable and willing to group. the vo is excellent. its actually surprisingly refreshing. i really dig it so far.

looking for other recs though.

It's too bad that city of heroes is gone. That game was pure fun for me with a great and sometimes funny community. There is a community effort underway to create a successor, but i am not sure that they will make it or that it will be fun. I am watching it though: http://cityoftitans.com/

It's sad. Other than the novelty of the "action" combat - there is literally nothing going for the game. The classes are stupid as hell. How many different versions of a warrior could you possibly have?

I've been playing ESO lately. Hesitant to recommend it to anyone on p99 because it has a lot of things that a lot of people here wouldn't be into. It's super easy and mostly soloable, but also has large scale PvP, a really fun crafting system, and it's just amazing to run around and look at. If you are a fan of the tes games you will probably like the story. Also, despite being really easy, there's no cash store. Well, there is, technically, but nothing of consequence comes from it. Game versions and I think some kind of horse.

It's weird because this isn't normally the type of MMO I go for (ie anything typical of the newer gen) but I'm oddly hooked on the game. I think it may be the crafting.

Whatever you do, stay away from Darkfall

MMO scene so stale, played firefall for 3 days then crashed and burned, fucking so tired and old, unimaginative.

Waiting for games like elite dangerous and No mans sky here

Been playing SWTOR for a week or so. Def F2P, P2W. It's ok though, for what it is.

Other than p99? Could try The Sleeper! It has a pretty decent population now and growing still. I'll prob be banned for posting this tho.

Im hesitant to get into archeage. It seems okay and almost everyone i know says its awesome, but they said that about WoW too and i hated WoW.

It's sadly a matter of time before Kegz blows up again. I'd have doubts about the future of it.

There's a few constants in life, Kegz having a sociopathic meltdown is one of them.

EVE Online is the only game out there that compares to classic Everquest.

You can go get a free 14-day trial anytime, but if you use this link to create your account then you will actually get a 21-day trial:

Every once in a while, I go back & play Anarchy Online. I have played some The Repopulation which feels a lot like AO to me but updated, is intersting too for a more sci-fi feel.

I never really got into DAOC for some reason & I played beta, live & went back a few times it just never held my interest.

Archeage is really all about PvP ultimately & what time I spent in it the community was pretty awful. Maybe it has gotten better but mostly it just feels like yet another Korean MMO to me. *shrug*

Nothing is EQ. Even EQ isn't EQ, except here. heh

Grimjaw

EVE is EQ but better because after countless expansions the sandbox and community feeling are still intact more than ever.

Played Conquer Online for a while and come back to it from time to time, they did an ios version so its kind of cool for a change; I started playing it some yrs back, very p2w though

SWG emu (basilisk server) was pretty cool, still bumping around there casually

I havent played DDO (dungeons n dragons online) in years (did once on an eq hiatus when it was fairly new) that was fun, can't remember exactly what they did but in the past couple yrs looked at it again and the p2w factor had increased drastically. Was fun yet soloable and cool to play with a playstation-esque controller anyway

Whatever happened to ESO? I barely hear anyone talking about it anymore.

Did those who play just give up on it?

+1.

That and FFXIV are the only MMOs I have significant time in to -- and I try them all, sometimes at significant cost ($150 for archeage... ) Played a lot of warframe also, if you can consider that an MMO.
