View Full Version : Game Mechanics: Bard casting bar disappearing.

It's happening again. I don't know how to reproduce it, but the casting bar disappears sometimes, even though the song has not actually ended or fizzled (and if you wait it out, the song will even play).

Pretty sure this is still happening. Seems to happen when I'm using an important spell like charm or mez.

Next time I look at bards, I will try to go through all the methods to interrupt songs and make sure they are working. I am totally swamped with school at the moment, so it could be a week or so.

Are you using an item that procs?

This used to happen if you were starting to play a song and your weapon procced, the casting bar would disappear for the remainder of the cast, but the snog would still land after the 3 seconds.

I've noticed it happening to me when I'm kiting sometimes (it probably happens other times too, I just am paying a lot closer attention to my cast bar when kiting). So weapon proc isn't the issue there.

Is there a fix for this? Tried looking for one... but yea didn't get this the first few days I played now it is unplayable.

Happens on all UIs I've tried. About every ~4th song, sometimes many times in a row.

I don't really use /stopsong or anything to funk it up.

Same issue with me. I don't use any special UI stuff, just the stuff from the getting started post. Just direct casting of songs using numpad bound to activate gems and/or using hotkeys to activate gems. Song begins casting but the cast bar never appears, and the song will complete if I let it go... though usually I end up cancelling it because I don't see the cast bar and assume I missed the note.

A known issue on live and is normally the biggest reason that this happens.

I've just gotten used to my cast bar not being there, so I just wait for the cast message to go through. The latest development is sometimes I'm having a fizzle (missed note) but my spell gems are staying greyed out like my song is still going off. That's frustrating and throws off my twist.

This only happens with Breath of Harmony and similar items I think.

I have a combo of buttons I push for BoH, one /stopcast and the other clicks the BoH. How could the spellbar stay greyed out with that? Also, can the BoH even miss a note?

Note my singing macros are all 2 lines: 1) /stopsong 2)/cast #

Here's a thread necro and a half for everyone.

This bug is still live and frustrating as hell. I've taken to using DuxaUI, which has a cast bar built into the target window. When the cast bar disappears, the name of the song stays if it's still casting at least.

I really, really hate this bug and wish it was fixed.

This can happen while I'm just fear kiting, playing snare-fear-chant-chant with a drum equipped. No procs. I'd say 1 in 10 casts at a minimum, sometimes more than that.

This bug has been around since I started playing on p99 back in april last year.

While I was trying to get a workaround for this problem I added "casting bar" UI items on the "Target" UI window by editing the XML files.

This means that if you leave a song running over a period of time; the name of the song playing shows in the Target Window; which is helpful if you have PBAE spells on your cast bar.

But it didn't solve the problem; it's not exclusively proc related because it happens with instruments equipped too.

I have a combo of buttons I push for BoH, one /stopcast and the other clicks the BoH. How could the spellbar stay greyed out with that? Also, can the BoH even miss a note?

I when I had BoH I used keypresses for it; one key for stop song and one key for BoH click; macroing stopsong was glitchy if a song was casting it wouldn't let you /stopsong for the first 10-15% of a song cast; where as stopsong keypress is always instant.

BoH can never miss a note because it's a instant click effect just like jboots.
