Last night I set my alarm for 3:20 am so I could wake up and help some rando I just met earlier today in game get his testament of vanear page.
Full story: Camped the page with this dude because we got there at the same time and decided it would be good to know exact time of death as it's a 7-hour respawn. We'd help each other with the kill then random for the page when it dropped. I was afk when it popped, he engaged, I came back right as he died, got the kill with one hit and he was bound too far to random, so boom, defaulted to me. I felt really bad because he did all the work, timed the pathers, etc, so I was like "look, I'll set my alarm for 6 and a half hours from now so I can wake up and kill this with you." The rest is history. For the record, the kill went swimmingly; no adds, etc.
That, my friends, is Everquest in a nutshell: having to explain to your wife that you're setting your alarm at 3:20 am to help some guy in a video game get one kill for one quest item at level 19.
