View Full Version : Melodious Truncheon resists on giants

Hey,
Plenty of evidence on past threads that Melodious Truncheon is supposed to be unresistable to mobs. With the recent update, giants that are now immune to mez are also immune to truncheon. Pretty sure this shouldn't be the case.
Lots of closed threads to reference, for instance. Even mobs immune to stun that are under 55 are not supposed to resist.

this is my recollection as well. any mob in the game for them (under level restriction). there were no exceptions, including raid bosses.

This is not in regards to the MT, but i did notice that resist seemed to be a bit higher on mobs after the new update. Maybe thats classic? Or maybe i read over in the patch notes that it is intentional. Either way, it's annoying :)

in all honesty, devs here dont care as much about making things classic, unless that makes things harder

Post this in bugs forum. This should be fixed as it should not be a resistable proc. Obviously it won't mez some mobs like raid targets, but will interrupt them. Hence why this is a useful item.

it will get ignored
karnas previous response was:
Some mobs are flagged as unmezzable. Like Brinkman mentioned, the question is: Does the mob flag or spell data take precedence? I don't know the answer to that.
even after some of the previous evidence was quotes like:
For some strange reason, this mez is unresistable, even to raid mobs who aren't mezzable by any other means.

Well some mobs won't be mezzed, but they should be able to be interrupted in casting. Hence why this is super useful against raid mobs. Are they still getting interrupted if casters?

I havent played P99 for more than a few minutes in the last couple of weeks. I have nothing to contribute to this discussion.

It actually is mezzed; not stunned. Including the raid bosses. Its just that the mez is so momentary (mostly because the raid is beating the mob) that it often only used to proc as a stun. Technically "stuns" are a different animal than "mezzes" when it comes to spell effects even though you can use a mez to functionally stun a mob. If you could time everyone turning off auto-attack on the proc then it would actually mez any mob in the game lvl 55 or under.
The effect "Befuddlement", even in modern EQ, is still a unique item proc that was meant to be part of the bard bag of tricks. I don't think there is any other item with the same effect. I would also read between the lines as to why there was never an upgrade for this item put into the game. Nonetheless, it most certainly existed in classic---and, imo, is the most "bard" item in the game after the epic.
Using it on raids, is always kinda dopey because when it procs it also memblurs (in classic eq this was the only way a bard could memblur a mob). Which pretty much means that it will pong off the tank into the dps or healers.

They've fixed tons of stuff before that made the game easier.

So basically warrior would have to mallet again, which would be pretty inefficient.

yes...but losing position on some velious mobs or pinging it off for a couple rounds of damage on non-defensive tanks is all it takes to wipe a raid.
mostly, if you equip this on a raid encounter without permission you're mostly just asking to get yelled at by your raid leader. which, depending on who you are, is great bard fun.
