View Full Version : Does CHA affect druid charming now in p1999?
Does cha affect druid charm now? Did it ever? I hear conflicting things. Is there a definitive post or patch note?
Thanks,
Auxn
Not sure about definitive stuff but I've only ever heard a resounding "no" from players whose knowledge level I trust. Only charm that should be affected by charisma is enchanter charm.

No never. never a patch because it never did. As stated Enchanter charm is only one that uses cha.

Thats not completely true Thulack. There was a patch in 2010 where Uthgaard removed the CHA influence. But when I was leveling in Kedge, CHA did indeed factor into charm breaks.
On P99 for the past 3 years it hasn't.
Just to add to the confusion: how about bards? My understanding from talking to people who played bards is that CHA affects their charms.

It does or at least it did on live, CHA works the same way it does for Bards as it does for Enchanters. Charm, lulls, mez, etc..

One more thing to mention about druid charms: Make sure it's 75. I have never fucked around with having less than 75 because I'm an elf, but I wouldn't risk it. Other than that I'm 99.9% sure Charisma doesn't do shit after extensive testing over many years. My best EQ friend is one of, if not the, most respected enchanters on the server and he doesn't even wear CHA gear when charming -- only when calming very hairy shit.
It is all about 1) level differential and 2) MR penalty on the mob.

In other words Auxn, welcome to a lot of anecdote and conflicting information to your demand for a definite answer.

If you're druid charming on a raid in hate/fear/sky get a charisma buff. If you're charming mobs to solo kill exp don't worry about it. That's the best answer possible.

was going to mess about with charm animal on my lvl 34 troll shm.
45 CHA
is gonna be pain to work with.....
Cant really afford to lose ac or wis on the toon atmo; gonna have to think hard how i get over 75cha. +23 buff spell helps a bit tho )

Your CHA is probably going to make no difference at all in your charming ability, since you're not an enchanter.

Yea other than chanter/bard it doesn't matter.

Not confirmed but 99% sure that CHA doesn't affect druid charm. Tested it for some time now on PoF Gorillas and it seems random.

Mob MR is the biggest factor, if you have any way of controlling that.

Charisma score does not affect druid or necromancer charm ability. Negative CHA does not increase a necromancer's charm chance. The best way to increase your charm duration with either DRU, SHM, or NEC is based on level difference and the mob's Magic Resist, so if you have an Enchanter in your group, have them cast Tash. Magicians and Shamen can malo to lower MR.
If you want to search the Allakhazam patch archive for evidence of charisma affecting druid charm, you can check http://everquest.allakhazam.com/history/patches.html . I couldn't find anything with some cursory searching.
