I've been having my EQ crash randomly during play, specifically, the screen won't refresh but I can hear real time sound and the game responds to key inputs (such as /quit). If I tried resizing the game window or setting it to full screen, the game would crash with a 'ResetDevice Failure' error message.

In my eqclient.ini file, I noticed that FullscreenRefreshRate was set to 0. I set this to the refresh of my monitor and so far I haven't had any crashes and I've been able to resize the screen to full size without issue.

It may be a long shot, but if people are having crashing issues, maybe check the aforementioned. Hope it helps.

So you changed the 0 in the eqclient to the # of hertz your monitor refresh rate is?

Yep.

Also, some people have issues with running the game in window mode. If it's full screen, I never get an issue.

This occurs when I switch from windowed mode to full screen or vice versa about 10% of the time.

Yeah, I changed it in the eqclient file and just now had a reset device failure.

make sure your windowed resolution is set to the full screen res and check that eqclient hasnt reverted. ive noticed it changes back after the failure

It might be important to note, that I can only start the game through having the resolution option checked in the properties (when you right click the desktop icon), I believe it's like 600x800 or something.

That's strange. Not sure about that. I can start the game in any (windowed) resolution, the resetdevice failure message only occurs IF the eqclient.ini files as the fullscreenrefresh set to 0. Just to repeat, it seems that this field is automatically reverted to 0 sometimes. If this occurs, and you try to swap back into full screen res, the error will occur. I've set my eqclient file to read only for the time being.

For the record, the parameter...

FullscreenRefreshRate=0

...simply tells the client to allow Windows to determine the best refresh rate, based upon whatever your video settings are in the Windows control panel. You do not need to change it.

If its set to 0 and I try to set the window to full size, the resetdevice failure error is invoked. Maybe it works fine for others when set to 0 but not for me.

I reset mine from zero to 60, which is the refresh rate I have set. So far it hasn't crashed with the error message. When swapping modes from windowed to full screen before, it was crashing on average about 30% of the time. Hopefully this has fixed it; we'll see.
