iksar necromancers + old world necro guild faction

just rerolled my erudite necromancer as an iksar. probably going to move off of kunark once i out-level kurn's tower. i'm just concerned about how i will acquire my spells in the old world. how easy is it to raise faction with the various necro guilds in the old world?

i've looked over the wiki a bit, and i see it is possible to raise Bloodsabers and Dismal Rage factions by killing some good guy priest types. how long does it take, though? and what are my other options?

i know i could just make a mule / have a friend make a mule and buy the spells that way. i would rather do it this way, though.

From my experience levelling an iksar necro upto my mid 20's in Kunark and then moving to the Old World, I can tell you that if you want to use the EFP underground traders you will need:

a- a friend to trade for you,
b- Call of Bones at level 34, or
c- a mule that you can ground-transfer gems for spells with.

I don't know what the situation with other necromancer guilds may be.

Go to Nekutos, and ask for low level necromancers to help you out.

Additionally, I don't think you are KOS in the Evil Guild in Freeport, but I think you do start Dubious to the merchants there. Alternatively, you are loved at the Qeynos Evil Guild, which you can get to through the sewer entrance outside Qeynos.

So it is quite possible. Just make a friend.

also, i heard that a recent patch changed how iksar necromancers are viewed in the evil Qeynos guild. have not personally confirmed.

Ahh okay. The last I heard of it was a month ago. I have not tested since.

I'll run my Iksar over to East Freeport later today and check out my faction with the Freeport Evil Guild, and I'll post here again.

One of the first things I did with my necro after arriving to Antonica was con'ing the underground merchants in EFP -- they were all "dubious". I had done nothing to change my faction with them (no lowbie quests at all).

Once you can use Call of Bones they will all be "amiable".

Any way to faction grind to be able to buy your own level 20 and 29 pets? On other classic servers I've typically done iksar necros and levelled them up through the warrens so I had two home bases and could buy my 20/29 pets myself from paineel. No warrens here though...

Pretty sure the level 20 necro pet spell is only in Oggrok or Grobb.

If you have the plat, just buy all the spells you need, or just get a port back. You can run from the DL port to buying your spells in like 15 minutes, isn't really a big deal in the long run, then you can gate back.

trying to do all this with as little outside help as possible. my main is a warrior, looking to do a pure solo experience with this toon. :) i just might have to suck it up and buy a port tho... hm.

Well it's not like the other races have a cakewalk in the faction department. Even as a human, the caster guilds still don't like you and probably won't sell you your shielding/root/misc spells. If it's in Oggok or Grobb you still have to find or re roll a fatball.

Make the mule(s) yourself and dump points into CHA.

Give Xelha 4 bone chips (unstacked) and they will sell to you. For the ones not sold there, you will need a newbie to buy them for you.

Buy the spells before you leave Kunark, and Nokt has 2 research pet spells that lvl on him in Tunnel. Hooker.
