A geared ranger will do ok though? Are there mechanics strong for pvp? with pre velious. Like they suck at bows?

track is very useful, they can do decent meele dmg and spells are good utility, all in all not the worst class but not the best, people I've played with who main rangers seem to enjoy them

Rangers work most casters.

I think they will destroy casters in Velious when there are lots of high damage bow options, trueshot aura, etc. But right now you just can't do enough damage if they can get casts off (i.e. no windstriker). A warrior hurling boulders does more ranged DPS than a ranger. :\
