anyone else interested in starting class specific threads that could be stickied or have their own board?

Fun items:
Class mechanics
Leveling guides for x-y levels
fun things to do with your class
ect.

People have been asking for class specific forums for a while. There's been a lot of threads popping up about this. From a usability standpoint, this community has more than 8,000 accounts and about 175 people online at any given time during the day... I think that's more than enough to support additional class based forums.

Give people something to talk about other than "My poopsock guild poops bigger turds in bigger socks than your poopsock guild."

I have so rarely seen threads like this, even in R&F...

I'd absolutely use class specific boards.

Stickied threads would be nothing special, and most likely not even worth it. They would become so long and convoluted that nobody would bother reading besides the few that actively followed it since it's creation. Individual boards is the only way to go.

I'll consider it...

Maybe archetype boards or something? A dozen or so boards would seem too spread out.

How about two forums. Cool classes (Shadowknight, Bard, Wizard), and then everyone else?

Make a board for "Class Discussion" and have it separated into different sub-forums. The subforums should only appear after you click on class discussion. I hate clutter too so I think this is the best solution.

Like melee/hybrid/caster/priest?

I'm not sure how vBulletin works but if it does do nested subforums then Lazortag's suggestion is good.

Should be able to.

If nested sub-forums are possible, one for each class would be cool. Then we don't have this list of mostly inactive forums for classes that nobody talks about. Otherwise, if nested is not an option, archetypes would work just fine. I've been wanting to gather up all of the great Warrior info I have found here and post it in one place, both for myself to reference later and for new folks. Looking forward to it!

So maybe what you can do is just start a thread for whatever it is you're so intereseted in. Then if it gets enough interest from the community (say, if people actually reply on a regular basis), then maybe the forum admins will sticky / create subsections. And if it doesn't get enough interest to be a viable area on its own, it can eventually fade away without having taken any valuable time / action on the admin side.

Edit - re-reading it made me think that sounded snarky, and I didn't mean it to. Just - start a thread. See if people have something to contribute.

Anyone want to start a shaman thread? ;0

There's been enough of a flood of bard type posts in the recent couple days to at least warrant a forum section for us!

I really think the subforums should be (like I've posted before)

Melee (war, monk, rog)

Hybrid (pal, SK, ranger)

Priest (dru, clr, sham)

Caster (ench, mag, wiz, necro)

Bard (bard! bard!)

Cheers!

Not this...

Each class has specific features, gear, and functions. Each class needs its own subforums. Either do it right or dont do it. ;)

Class sub forums would be uber.

Let's get this project started. =p

I think archtype based forums should be more than enough, as you can gather all class relevant information in a sticky whereas discussions about specific mechanics and the like can happen in its own thread. Just create tags like [Warrior], [Druid], [Enchanter], etc for people to put infront of the topic to label their discussions.

Results of a poll done on class distribution. Based on this alone, id say there would probably be enough activity in each class forum to support every class getting their own forum space.

This might also be a way to get more people using the forums, since I know lots of people hate R&F, and Server Chat is the only other major one people check out, this could provide another space for people to discuss things.

27 Bard 6.40%
37 Cleric 8.77%
44 Druid 10.43%
32 Enchanter 7.58%
37 Magician 8.77%
26 Monk 6.16%
33 Necromancer 7.82%
26 Paladin 6.16%
14 Ranger 3.32%
23 Rogue 5.45%
27 Shadow Knight 6.40%
47 Shaman 11.14%
23 Warrior 6.16%
23 Wizard 5.45%

I think it would be nice to have a class forum section of some kind, be it Archetype or whatever. While there are some good forums out there(safehouse , etc) , as someone else mentioned, they are essentially playing a different game compared to us. Having a place to go and discuss class specific topics would be very cool.
