Hey all, as stated I am a 51 Druid. Trying to find out where I should be hunting. Lately it's either been the aviaks in OOT or camping ice giants in EVP.

Would like to really start trying to make a push towards 60 at this point. Any suggestions are welcome.

Thanks.

51 you charm in Kedge.
55ish you charm in permafrost bear pits

Grats on 60.

If you aren't charming, you aren't pushing to 60. Quadding, root rotting and grouping are all very slow compared to solo charming.

In order to quad down in the permafrost bear pits. I'm assuming that's using the luminescent staff right? Would it be pretty relaxed around 55? Or is there other things down there that I am going to need to contend with? The wiki doesn't provide a whole lot of information for the pits, and I've never been down there.

i've found charming in kedge pretty hard but its a good bet for 51-54, can try killing raptors in TD or likewise charming bats in solb is pretty solid there's plenty of mobs and spots to do it there...

also, no, you don't quad in the bearpits they have way too much hp--basically charm a bear/wolf, sick it on the other mob next to it and break charm when theyre both at 5%ish hp so you can one shot them and rinse and repeat. you can start @ the bear pits when you reach level 54 and have animal tash/that charm good charm spell

bear pits can be super rough when you're just starting and don't know how to do it but once you get the hang of it it's literally the best xp any class can get imo, is ridiculously easy and you can stay there till 59-60 easily

Duo Sol B, Permafrost, Lower Guk, Citymist, Skyfire, Howling Stones

Solo Kedge, Spirocs, Sol B, Citymist.

You do not quad in the bear pits, you charm a mob, have it fight another mob, and break the charm before a mob dies so you earn the full xp credit yourself. Grouping with at least 1 other person removes the problem of pets eating xp.

Duo with an enchanter or another druid in sol B or Permafrost and you're really fucking wasting mobs.

If you're going to go with more than two, keep your group as tight as possible, preferably formed around one of those combos. dru/ench with one or two physical dps classes is an extremely formidable squadron, especially in outdoor zones with unresistable pacifies.

super secret technology: you can quad in city of mist. it's very obvious where, too.

Spirocs in TD are probably good up to 52 if you want to push it that far.

Daldaen, I have a few questions about charming in Kedge.

What level can you start without doing a ridiculous amount of snaring, zoning, etc.?

Do you have two fight, then break when both are low and nuke/dot to death or do you buff/thorns one and have him go to town?

This is what I did:

- Until 53 you can pretty much stay on Aviaks. It's like a free PL if you have a Lummi staff.
- 53-55 you can do quadding on the seafuries in OoT and gain some cash in the meanwhile.
55-60: Here you have many options. I did a mix of Charming in Chardok (Real fun, but watch for the AoE groups), Sol B Crawling (Charm a bat), Quad the raptors in TD (total PITA tbh) and grouping in Seb/HS. I did some quadding and Root/DoT in CoM (try the arena area).

After 55 if you really want to push, it's Permafrost Bear pits as Daldaen suggested. However is boring as hell, it's a pain to get in there and it's 0 loot. But it's probably the best XP you will ever get.

My advise is, however, to enjoy the game after level 55. Group with your friends, go to Seb, HS etc... Seek some challengues, like charming in Chardok. Bear pits will get you to 60 in no time, but a game is about having fun ;)

Leaves was able to get from 51 to 60 in under a week. Screw kedge unless you like a challenge, and instead quad the McMarrin clan in everfrost. Don't be a baby about faction; who ever goes to Halas? Once they go light blue, you are gonna charm in the bear pits, but remember doing 1v1 with your charmed pet is for suckers who don't know any better.

Use the meat grinder method and pull a handful (3-5) of mobs with a charmed pet, and root them all on top of each other. Send fresh pets to their death against the crowd and gazughi ring at the last moment for your full xp hit. You can clear the pits much faster this way.

By the way, you have a Manastone, right? Because druids are worthless without one.

Daldaen, I have a few questions about charming in Kedge.

You need to do lots of snaring/zoning until 44ish. Then you can do the 2nd floor mobs though it's pretty tough at that level.

The snare/zoning is mostly for 1st room from 30-40. Because there are 7 swordfish in there and they are sort of annoying to pull. You can use Lull/Calm Animal on them to break the room as well.

Here is a PM I sent someone who asked some similar questions:

Drop down any yea the 2nd floor is where you will want to practice. Splitting it is the challenging part, once it's split it's no problem.

2nd floor has 2-4 piercer swordfish, 1 Pirahna, 1 shark. Also in the bottom pit there are two Pirahnas. Those will not aggro unless your charmed pet crosses over them, if you keep your charmed pet from crossing over the center of the room those Pirahnas will stay down there. Leading to an easy 2-kill once the room is broken.

As for the main room, all the mobs mentioned (other than the 2 pit Pirahnas) roam. The piercers roam through the center of the room. The Pirahna roams from the West room to just in front of the South room (straight line). The shark roams from the north room to just in front of the East room (straight line). The way they path, they will both get into their respective rooms (west for Pirahna and north for shark), which allows you to position yourself in the south room and charm a piercer. You then want to drop down the tube in that south room and spam /pet back. This will drag your pet and another 1-2 piercers into a safe room.

Root them. When your pet is low on HP, break charm and kill him. Repeat until they are all dead. Then you can go up and charm the roaming Pirahna and have it kill the roaming shark. Then you can charm 1 of the two Pirahnas in the pit and have it kill the other. (For pit Pirahnas I suggest /pet backing them so they are in the main room of 2nd floor. If you leave them in pit and try to cast they will continue to hit you even though they are 100ft bellow you in the water.

After that if you go into the south room again and look up, you can go into another room. Up there there's 3 mobs. Either 3 Pirahnas or 2 Pirahnas and a mermaid. Mermaid is always in the center on the rock. Then there's always a Pirahna to the right and one in the ceiling that you won't see til it aggros you.

When doing this room with a mermaid up its tricky, since you will have to root the mermaid to start, then root one of the Pirahnas, backup again and charm the last pirahna. Then send it on the mermaid. The mermaid will almost always win the fight so you'll have to break your pet, kill it, charm the other rooted Pirahna and send it on the mermaid to finish her.

A few general tips of kedge.

Max swimming
Try to find an EB item. While casting EB every 30min isn't so bad, it is extremely handy to have one less thing to worry about. Fishbone Earringg is the best option currently.
Keep yourself buffed with SLN+Chloro/Regrowth at all times. It will save your life.
Scout out what I described while invis before trying. Specifically the pathing in the 2nd floor main room.
Keep EVERYTHING rooted. If a mob breaks root at 10%, don't assume your pet will hold long enough to finish it. It is almost always a good idea to reroot in that case. Only exception to this is your pet. It is usually much safer to engage a room by charming a mob and then letting stuff attack your pet while you root.
Buy a Goblin Gazughi Ring if you try this and find you like it or at the very least you like the exp. Having instant invis to break charms makes this way easier. Plus in kedge Invis v Animals works for everything except mermaids (so basically everything you're killing), which is nice. Costs about 5k, it's worth every plat.

If fights are looking lopsided you can use ES Vambraces to equalize them somewhat. But other than that, the only spells you should be casting are roots, charms, and invis. As well as rebuffing and healing as needed. Don't try to cast DoTs or Nukes during a normal experience rotation. At the end of the night or finishing off the last mob of a respawn sure. But otherwise you will be wasting mana and being less efficient than you could be.

Also worth noting... The zone becomes much easier at 52 and 56. 52 because Call of Karana. It casts faster, and charms everything in zone. 56 because Engorging Roots is more damage and less mana than Engulfing Roots.

But around 55/56, doing perma bears is better for exp.

Quadding and Charming are all well and good in this min/max environment that everyone thinks they need to get into. But the extra exp is marginal. You will take many more deaths that cause grief, downtime or for which you don't get a full rez if you take part in these riskier activities. Try getting an exp rez in kedge keep. Not dieing is the single biggest factor in levelling up fast.

Charming in the bear pits is the only one that is relatively safe and produces enough extra exp over standard grouping or root/rotting to pass the risk/reward test for me.

Try to get a Rez in Perma bear pits lol :P.

I've gotten plenty of rezzes in Kedge over the years. Probably donated 10,000~ platinum to hundreds of clerics for rezzes. But, that ends up being like 2 Hammerhead Helms or 3 Seahorse Scale Cloaks in the grand scheme of things.

Most of those were when I was unguilded. If you have guildmates with clerics, it's not too bad given you port them there, sow them, lev them, EB them and port them back when you're done. Just remind them of all the ports you have done for them and they will Rez you.

Root rotting makes me was to gouge my eyes out. It's so slow. You may as well play a shaman if that is what you want to do. They are better at it by far.

instead quad the McMarrin clan in everfrost.

Gave this a try, but could only find 3 of the level 40 McMarrins. Is there a 4th out there somewhere I'm missing?
