How'd that get there? I have a clean whistle when it comes to web browsing and it's not like I'll run a random .exe :p

Anyone know more on it? Anyone else had it?

EDIT: Yeah looks like the file is corrupted, can't run the game at the moment :(

maybe take it apart and see whats inside? hard to believe someone would write a virus that would attach itself to EQ.. maybe its just a false positive

its a game file that the p99 devs modified in order to implement their anti-hack (antihack dll). some antivirus detection software believe that the file contains a virus, due to the mechanics involved.

ur antivirus software just noticed something suspicious about the file, that's all.

it just took it a few days for it to notice that the p99 dll was changed (due to the latest patch) and something is now suspicious about it.

i'm pretty sure its just a false-positive and that we can tell our antivirus software to ignore that file.

by hitting that large "Ignore Threat" button on your AVG pop-up

I had macafee and it never detected/flagged it until today.
I had to delete macafee and rerun the patch and got the game to work.
It seems that dsetup.dll is being picked out as a trojan by other antivirus programs as well.

Tell your antivirus to ignore your P1999 directory. Re-download the new spell files from the forums, copy them to your P1999 folder. Good to go.

I have to figure out how to do that. My AVG picked it up this morning as well. Work the next three nights so might not have time to figure out how to do that until I get off. If you figure out how to make the exception in AVG let me know.

Options, Advanced Settings, Exceptions on left Pane, Add exception, do a folder, and select the p99 everquest folder.

What I said with AVG would make AVG stop detecting it. If the game isn't working, but AVG isn't complaining, it may have already eaten your dll. Re-install the latest game patch and try again.
