Post a thread in the Petition/Exploit forum (http://www.project1999.org/forums/newthread.php?do=newthread&f=25). Make sure to flag it as an IP exemption from the dropdown next to your thread's title.

all volunteers ... they dont sit here 24 / 7 only granting IP exemptions ... if they have more important things to do, the exemptions will take more time ... so the only thing you can do is be patient ...

Hmm... Wish I knew that before my wife said "lets play EQ this weekend!" Petitioned today. Guess that blows those plans.

Just be careful that your wife never sits around too long without doing anything, you both will get banned for being accused of boxing!

Edit: Oh and yes, just the MERE suspicion is seems is good enough justification for a permaban.

Yes that which hunt is why I left P1999. Was accused of macroing my toon.

At the time, a level 18 cleric with 40 hours /played. Oh yeah I'm macroing.....

Seriously? That's pretty extreme. You can't go AFK without being accused of something? Doesn't the whole we're often doing entirely different things mean we're two people?

My GF or I go afk all the time while playing and have never had a problem. We make a point of never touching the other's computer while the other is on, afk or not, and try to remember to put up the AFK flag when we do.

The one thing that constantly worries me, though, is I've been playing since release and she is totally new to EQ with P99 so I tend to lead the way and negotiate groups, etc. She isn't one to really chat a lot in games and is kind of shy anyway, so when people are talking to us in a group or something I sometimes have to yell at her "talk to that guy, dammit!"

Well you have to understand I would not be surprised at all if at least half the requests are really boxers or would lead down that road. Heck I think every husband/wife combo I meet in EQ since 1999 the husband played the wife healer or porter on the side a great deal more then she bothered to log on herself.

Yeah, but then you have to figure that there are those like me, my girlfriend and my two room mates. Finally been able to convince them to play eq because they don't have to worry bout a subscription fee. Me and one of my room mates are eq vets, my girlfriend and other room mate are new to the game, fun dynamic. We've been waiting for 8 days so far alternating who gets to play so we can stay close to each other in level, but I figure the wait right now is probably more due to the server roll-back and admins being busy with reimbursements than anything else. The only thing we can do is wait patiently. Hopefully you didn't sacrifice too much to convince the wifey to dedicate a whole weekend to Everquesting.

Just be respectful, once you get exempt ****DON'T**** multi-box no matter how tempting. Do not ruin the IP-exemptions for all of us who legitimately want to play with several of our REAL friends in the same home and share the Everquest experience with someone new. Boxing just mean players are empty husks on the server, taking up population numbers and exp/spawns/drops without contributing to the COMMUNITY. P1999 wants that server population number to be REAL, not 1/2 or worse of what it shows because one guy is boxing all of LGUK. Doesn't work on a throwback server (not enough zones), doesn't help the community(grouping with a boxed duo or trio sucks, isn't the point of the game to socialize and be part of a community?), it just does a lot more harm than good (not too mention the risk of ruining the chance for legitimate exemptions to be accepted).

To sum it up, wait, that's what I've been told, I'm still waiting too you are not in this boat alone. Until the exemption is placed and the block is lifted try to alternate with your wife or room mate or whatever and get yourself in a good position to group when you can.

Punk!

Email me! I'm lurking about on the server on occasion. I hope you get your exemption. I'd love to run around with you both again sometime!

The developers of this project put way too much time into this for us to be put on the spotlight every single time we make a decision, ESPECIALLY when you ASSUME you know all the facts. 90% of the time, you don't. Situations are handled between the staff and the players directly involved. Any dialog between a GM and a player can be considered a private matter, and will not be open to public debate. Players will divulge their interactions with GM's as they see fit, maybe giving all details and maybe not disclosing all of it, and quite possible they themselves aren't aware of every point of consideration in a staff decision.

Isn't there some sort of boxing "test" to administer before banning somebody for mere observation? Something like, both parties responding simultaneously to tells, running in the same direction/different directions at the same time.

You know, kind of like a field sobriety test for drunk drivers?

Banning people from simply "watching" them over any amount of time without giving them a chance to prove otherwise seems a bit lame.

I'm glad you asked!

Yes, there is. I've got all sorts of neat tricks, and most of them, I can do without you ever knowing that I did them. Most of those take ~5 minutes. If you fail those, I'm still going to watch 45 mins to 2 hours before doing anything.

Of the 5 or so reports today, only 2 failed. We don't just ban on suspicion, and there's about a page of documentation + multimedia evidence when we do.

It's not like we sit around hunting down 2boxers. TBH those, and camp disputes are the most epic wastes of time in the game. I stay logged in while I work on other things in case someone has an emergency. Most emergencies I can handle in seconds. But every time someone decides to break a rule, I spend an hour doing paperwork on the crap. Every hour I spend doing paperwork is an hour I'm not testing Kunark. Keep it in mind folks.

Im really anxious and waiting on my IP exemption too... Its been a little over a week I think. My two roommates are getting antsy also, we three are very excited to play together just like old times.

Me and my roommate even donated money with little comments attached to it begging for a exemption..

I know donating money doesnt make me entitled to anything.. But it hope it would be just a liiiiiiiiittle bit of a push into that direction :P

/beg rogean/volunteers/anyone that can help

This the only server to even nearly be close to classic EQ. If one of us three roommates decided to two box and somehow got our IP banned, the other two would probably kill that roommate.

I know all of you are anxious... But put yourself in their shoes. They'veadvertised on big gaming websites (they did an interview on TenTonHammer, for example) and have been working their asses off to bring us classic EQ.

... Virtually for free to the subscribers.

At this moment in time, the release date for Kunark would be October 5th. (NOT CONFIRMED, just when the server opened, and kunark was one year after release.) I imagine they are trying to get as much of that done as possible. If no petitions get answered in September, You know why.

Any EQ vet knows just how much work was instilled into kunark. It has a lot of freakin content, and I'd imagine not all of it will be fixed and/or working upon release. They rely on our bug reports to keep things in order around here, just like when we all sent in bug reports when this server opened.

Their plate is pretty big. I know none of you are seriously flaming, but donations or not, please keep all of what I said in mind when your shit doesn't get settled in 5 mins.

PS: Uthgaard is a good guide = )

This week has probably been very busy. If you've been reading other posts you'd know that there was a rollback and Rogean has been issuing reimbursements whenever he has not been at work for like the past 4 days. It may take a bit. Sucks to wait, but hold out, the server is really great.

I just submitted my request yesterday, and will be patiently waiting as well. In the interim, we're just taking turns playing (so we can still both play and stay around the same level).

My question, to those who have received exemption (or perhaps to Rogean or Uthgaard), how will notification be sent? Will you receive a PM, will there be an update on the thread, or (if denied) will there be nothing and you just have to randomly attempt to login to see if it's unlocked?

My question may have been answered somewhere in this thread, if so, I apologize in advance. :)

Regardless, having fun on the server. It's nice to actually have to think again while gaming, instead of having everything spoon-fed to me like the new generation of MMO.

For my exemption, I received a reply to the petition post on the forums letting me know that it was done. So keep checking that post.

I petitioned on Wednesday and have been waiting with varying degrees of patience :).

I've been playing Aion over the weekend but I missed out on the xp bonus you all got as we haven't been rotating. I created all my girls now just have to wait.

I petitioned the 20th for my husband and I. I even bugged Rogean with a PM, but nothing has happened, so I guess we'll just have to continue on being patient. In the meantime, I'll work on leveling my cleric, I guess. :)

Does your account sync with an IP and you can only login from that? I don't think that is the case as most people don't have static IPs. I ask as I just talked my brother into playing. He is going to come down to Texas to spend some time with me and the wife. She has an exemption submitted for herself but would we need to request a temporary exemption for him for the week he is here?

I don't know how this works and I don't want to make a petition and cause more work for the dev's than is required.

AFAIK yes, you need an exemption for whatever account is being accessed from the shared IP - so if there's three accounts being accessed from one IP, get exemptions for all of them. This means you need to get him a eqemu login before he arrives of course.

Just out of curiosity, does the staff need any other help testing Kunark? I'd be happy lend a hand in whatever capacity you need. Or, is it just guides you are using? -because I really don't have the time or interest to do that. :p

Fixed.

I'm sure it's completely unfair that I automatically assume this is the case. But you have to admit, the likelihood that the number of "wives" who have been the subject of an IP exemption on this server is vehemently disproportionate to the number of females who actually play MMOs....let alone MMOs on Project 1999....

Also, Kevin Bacon WAS in Footloose.

I play regulary with my brother and most of the time only when he's on. For us, the fun of the game was playing together as we didn't really dig it too much solo felt like it was kinda dumb to pay for a mmo to play solo. So unless we really need to buy or sell something or are really bored we usually only play when esach other can to stay within level.

My GF is an ex WoW player. I started on EQ back at launch. played until EQ2 came out then off to SWG when it came out. I was playing 1999 when my GF asked: "Since it is free foryou to play, can I get on and play with you?" Yeah so now i got my exception and all is grand we are both playing high elves. She is a mage and I a edit: Druid. However SHE told me that she will not be speaking with anyone else. (shes shy) However from our in game actions it should be obvious that we are not two boxing. besides when i play alone I solo a druid or a monk. I two-boxed my ex-wifes healer back in the day on LIVE but it was a pain in the ass for me to do so. while it has it's benefits. I think it is better to just play honest. Thinking about starting a Couples Guild.

hope it was ok to necro-post this

PS she talks to people now.
