New Leaderboard

I've just setup a basic new leaderboard at http://www.r99pvp.net/. I just coded this all from scratch tonight and will be adding new features daily until it's where we want it.

Coming features:
- Individual player pages
- Pages for each guild
- Proper sorting by category
- A weighted point system for rankings

The leaderboard is automatically updated when a new kill occurs. Please stop in and check out this work-in-progress!

Unfortunately, we will not be including OOC logging; players can do this themselves should they feel the inclination.

Leaderboard will not be edited on my whims. When point system and rankings are implemented, repeated kills in a small amount of time will be penalized severely the number of points they merit.

1. I might eventually add such a feature because it's easy to do, but I don't really see the point. Is anyone realistically going to come to our main page and then sort the results by names or zones, especially when I have it split up into 100 kills per page?

2. I don't really see the site remembering session data - what you see is what you get as far as the size of each page.

3. This is on my list but is low priority.

4. What's the point? If someone really wants to stick it all in a spreadsheet, they can copy/paste or write their own script to do so. It's not a concern of mine.

We are considering adopting a Vanguard-style system of PvP points. In this system, each player will start with a set number of points (say 5). Each kill on a person awards 10% of their points to their killer. Kills that happen immediately after other kills will be awarded less points - say 2%.

We have a brand new points system implemented and computed against backlogged kills. Everyone starts with 5 points. When you kill someone, you take 10% of their points. If someone has died in the last 12 minutes, you only take 2% of their points, and if they've died in the last 6 minutes, you only take 1% of their points. Guild-on-Guild kills yield no points.

I would like to give a small suggestion that i honestly have no idea how Jeremy could implement!

But i think it would be awesome if pts could be scaled on lvl! Kind of like SZ coins for certain lvl characters.

I don't think a lvl 40 noob should be worth the same pts as a 60 vp geared epic lvl'd character.


Of course you cannot distinguish for gear. And IDK HTF you could distinguish for lvl, but I'm just saying adding a pt modifier for lvls of different character would be awesome!

Added a class feature where players can set their class in the system using ooc. To set your class, say "=(class)" in ooc. For example, if you're a shaman, you should invoke this command:
/ooc =Shaman

Can you do something like "level=" in OOC for peeps to enter their current level?
Players they kill or who kill them can then have their levels estimated. Perhaps
a way to allow kill points to be proportionate to levels once a few have entered
level data.

This thing is looking rock solid now. Love the rankings. Maybe a guild ranking? PVP points per capita though, no cumulative points since that obviously is meaningless. "Capita" will be based on number of player's in guild X that actually appear on PVP board (being killed or killing) since that way you don't have to try to guess how many players are in any given guild.

A-Z for playername would be good too, same with guild name. Like, I really wanted to look up Zayde's kill because hes a cool guy and since it wasn't on the first two pages.... I threw in the towel.

Hey thanks for the kind words! I didn't think the points system made a lot of sense when it came to guilds, so I left it out for now. Like you said, in a winning guild, more numbers is more points, but also I feel it's sort of bunk when people get kills for a guild but don't take deaths for a guild.

I'd intended to implement a Search Guild feature alongside Search Player, but I don't see any reason why we shouldn't just have a list of guilds available as well; there's really not that many.

With the old pro leaderboard, you don't even get points for farming the same player if they died recently.

New leaderboard will always be sub par.

Elderan leaderboard is perfect for people who just want to kill the same scrubs over and over and have it be worth the same amount every time.

People have the option to LNS now - if they're getting killed immediately after dying, they have nobody to blame but themselves. On my board you get 10% of the normal value of a kill if the player has died in the last 0-6 minutes, and 20% if they've died in the last 6-12 minutes.
